For this Touhou Project's Marisa Kirisame cosplay, I chose a dress leaning toward a classical Lolita style. Many people's impression of Marisa might remain stuck in her classic black magician outfit, but this time I wanted to try something a bit different. This grayish-brown plaid shawl-style top paired with a black skirt incorporates more retro details while preserving the character's primary black, white, and yellow color scheme.
Let's talk first about the large hat on my head; the black-and-white soft hat serves as the visual centerpiece of the entire styling. To support the curve of the brim, quite a bit of structural support was done inside. Posing with both hands holding the brim during the shoot wasn't just for striking a pose, but also to keep the hat crisp and upright. The fabric of the attire is also meticulously crafted: the plaid texture of the top is distinct, and the inner white lace sleeve cuffs stand out wonderfully in camera close-ups. The black skirt on the lower half not only features lace borders, but upon closer inspection, it's also embedded with fine golden sparkles that reflect a subtle shimmer under indoor warm lighting. Paired with the white pleated lining, walking creates a rich, multi-layered visual effect.
In terms of props, a classic afternoon tea set was prepared. The blue-and-white patterned teacup resting on the wooden round table blends seamlessly with this attire, evoking a strong British retro ambiance. A miniature brown leather waist bag was clipped to my waist, containing several small colorful bottles—serving as a faithful nod to the magician's lore of carrying potions. During the shooting process, I tried two different states: wearing Black stockings and going barefoot. Black stockings paired with brown loafers lean more toward an everyday retro vibe, whereas going barefoot exudes a more lazy, casual casualness. Sitting on the dark brown vintage leather sofa, backed by dark gold wallpaper and wooden flooring, maximizes the atmospheric immersion of the entire scene.
Regarding makeup and styling, I opted for a doll-like eye makeup style this time, emphasizing the eyelashes and undereye blush. Combined with the golden-yellow wig, I hoped to present a delicate, porcelain-doll feel in the 3D world. The wig's bangs and sideburns were also meticulously trimmed, and the braided pigtails on both sides keep the overall look from feeling too dull. As a fan of Marisa, even though I didn't carry a broom or the Hakkero this time, I still hope to convey her curious, collection-loving side through the details of the costume and props. The entire shooting process was very relaxed. To match the afternoon tea theme, I purposely picked up the small teacups and mini potion bottles as interactive props. Everyone is welcome to check out these photos and experience this style blending classical aesthetics with the 2nd dimension.
