[Mualani cosplay] Embark on an Impromptu Summer Seaside Trip

This time, to shoot the Genshin Impact Mualani cosplay photos, we practically built a beach right inside the studio. To recreate that impulse of chasing after ocean waves, a lot of thought went into everything from scene setup to prop selection. A large-scale pure blue background rolled out, scattered with palm leaves and sunflowers, instantly bringing out the summer feel of the main visual. Although the white Roman columns and birdcage on the side were just background boards, they added a sense of layering to the frame.

In terms of clothing, Mualani's blue-and-white swimsuit-style outfit has plenty of details, with the geometric patterned miniskirt at the waist and the golden accessories on the chest having a great texture. To fit the character, the wig was specially styled to be fluffy, and the iconic gradient bunny ear hair ornament on top of the head took a long time to adjust in angle, striving to look three-dimensional and natural in front of the lens. The little white penguin gloves on the hands and the dark blue thigh-highs are the finishing touches; to showcase the character's liveliness, the makeup artist incorporated some orange-red tones into the eye makeup, which, paired with contact lenses, made the gaze look more energetic.

During the shooting process, body posture was crucial. To express Mualani's agility and enthusiasm, I tried all kinds of big movements. For instance, the pose of kneeling on one leg with arms wide open required not only stable core strength but also a relaxed facial expression. When lying on the beach chair, I had to relax my shoulders and neck while hugging a pink heart-shaped pillow, presenting a lazy, vacation-like vibe. One detail was that I specifically applied high-gloss body oil to my arms and legs, which, combined with the strong studio lighting, created a glossy feel as if just coming out of the water with water droplets clinging to the skin.

Interacting with props also made the frame more vivid, whether toying with the red apple in hand or sitting inside a transparent inflatable swim ring, both added storytelling to the photos. The pineapples and grapes in the woven rattan basket also became great foreground or background elements. When color-grading this set of photos, the focus was on raising high saturation and contrast, making the blue more translucent and skin tones healthier. Every time the shutter was clicked, it felt like genuinely feeling the sea breeze, and I hope everyone can feel that refreshing summer vibe from this set of photos.
