Putting on this blue and white sailor-style Barbara Swimsuit look, I completed a set of summer outdoor shoots by the pool at Chimelong Water Park. While maintaining Barbara's classic elements, this makeup and styling chose a lightweight, summer version suitable for water scenes. The color-blocking of off-white and navy blue, along with the stripe embellishments at the collar and wrists, creates a very clean and refreshing visual contrast against the backdrop of dark green plants and azure pool water.
Before getting into the water, I specifically checked the reflection of the water surface with the photographer. Utilizing the light spots refracted by the water surface can effectively brighten the facial complexion, which is a neat little trick for shooting swimsuit outdoor locations. The choice of floatie also deliberately avoided overly bright or flashy colors; the alternating light blue and white style perfectly echoed the overall outfit, preventing the frame from looking cluttered with too much chaotic information.
During the shoot, I adjusted my condition according to the water temperature, trying my best to keep my body extensions natural. After all, balancing yourself in a pool while keeping an eye on the camera angles does require some experience. The lighting in this set of photos is basically soft, natural morning light, without excessive cool-toned filters added in post-processing, retaining the inherent translucency of summer sunshine. When planning the detailed design, the bow on top of the head and this pale gold twin-tail wig looked wonderful under outdoor natural light, showing no signs of stiffness.
In terms of pose design, the four compositions experimented with different arm movements. Especially the cheek-resting pose in the fourth picture not only reflects Barbara's playful and energetic vibe but also uses the hand movement to smoothly focus the center of the frame on her facial features. This character-centered composition is a relatively safe approach for swimsuit portraits, as it prevents the viewer's vision from being distracted by an oversized swim ring. Because the pool has a certain buoyancy, mastering the center of gravity is essential to maintaining a natural state in the water. Looking change to the crystal-clear pool water and relaxed postures in the final photos, it truly fits Barbara's sunny and healing style perfectly. The shooting experience at the water park this time was highly fulfilling. Everything from the makeup to the shooting rhythm proceeded in an orderly manner, making it a summer outdoor set that beautifully combines work with leisure as a Guangzhou model.
