[Marie Rose cosplay] A Bartender Adventure in Dead or Alive, the Blood-Colored Rose on the Retro Counter

This cosplay photoshoot selected two distinctly different scenes to interpret the character. The first set of photos focuses on a highly retro bar style wooden counter and wine cellar. The dark red tablecloth, the retro Las Vegas plaque hanging on the background wall, combined with various western liquor bottles scattered in a well-arranged manner, create a low-key luxury feel reminiscent of the Prohibition era in the 1920s and 1930s. Warm lighting was used during the shoot to bathe the entire environment in an amber glow, which perfectly matches the character's slightly mysterious yet playful temperament.

In terms of costume design, we emphasized the gothic punk elements of black and white contrasting colors this time. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder design, paired with black leather straps and metal rings, which retains the character's original cuteness while adding a sense of wildness and coolness. The large areas of white ruffles and black lace sleeves are the finishing touches, preventing the overall look from feeling monotonous. These ultra-thick-soled black lace-up Martin boots on the feet, paired with bright red soles, form a strong visual contrast. From a low-angle shot perspective, these details do a great job of elongating the body proportions, instantly boosting the overall aura.

The second scene switches to a quiet and steady study. The dark solid wood bookshelf background, hardcover books stacked on the table, a retro kerosene lamp, and a leather suitcase fill the frame with a rich classical academic atmosphere. Here, the character's temperament transitions from the agile and lively vibe in the bar to a slightly contemplative serenity. The two shots with hands resting on the chin beautifully capture the tenderness and determination in the character's eyes. The wooden boxed wine set and the whiskey glass with ice on the table also become props full of the flavor of life, making the entire frame more vivid and natural.

In terms of photography techniques, the photographer was very particular about the composition of this set of works. I especially like that low-angle shot perspective (the one sitting on the table); through the tilted camera language and wide-angle stretching, it breaks the conventional portrait composition and generates a strong visual tension. During the shoot, we paid great attention to the transition of light and shadow, using the on-site mahogany-colored walls and warm overhead lights to outline the character's silhouette very clearly. The leather reflections on the clothes and the details of the lace edges were preserved very well.

To me, cosplay is not just about putting on clothes and standing in front of the camera, but a wonderful experience of entering another character's inner world. This shoot allowed me to feel the duality of this character—capable of partying in a noisy bar, yet quiet at a peaceful desk. The different emotional expressions in several sets of photos are precisely the rich layers I wanted to show in this shoot. Although a lot of physical energy was consumed during the shoot to adjust postures and props, seeing these delicate lights, shadows, and textures in the final photos made all the effort feel worthwhile. Every shutter click is the most dedicated record of this character, and the best interpretation of my love for cosplay under anime-style photography.
