[Zenless Zone Zero Sweety Cosplay] Tea-tasting Immortal NPC Styling & Qipao Photo Showcase

Putting together this full cosplay set for the Zenless Zone Zero NPC Sweety (Tea-tasting Immortal) took a lot of thought and effort from preparation to shooting. The theme this time is set in a traditional Chinese style tearoom, and I specifically chose a modified, high-slit traditional Chinese style Qipao featuring a black and red color-blocked design. The red stitching around the collar really brightens up the complexion. Complemented by three copper-coin-shaped metal buckles on the chest and a gold tassel pendant, it blends traditional Chinese classical charm with a unique anime aesthetic. The waist features a subtle cutout design, paired with a black leather garter on the thigh, finding a perfect balance between a form-fitting silhouette and breaking conventional rules.

The wig features a fluffy light-blonde twin tails style, with a pair of yellow-tinted aviator sunglasses resting on my head. This contrast is quite fun, adding a touch of playfulness and cool attitude to the character. The black cylindrical hair ornaments on both sides, combined with long ribbon hairbands, keep the head styling from looking monotonous. For gloves, I chose a black half-finger style and added a black feather armband on my left arm; these subtle detail touches give the entire look richer layers.

The props prepared this time were also quite abundant, including a round fan inscribed with "Ten Thousand Taels," three large red packets with gold stamping, and a long decorative pole with black tassels. Holding these props on the day of the shoot really helped me get into character quickly. In particular, the pairing of the bright red envelopes with the black Qipao created a powerful visual contrast. I feel props aren't just for show; they serve as great aids for body language, making posing feel much more natural.

The shooting location was a Chinese-style set inside a studio. The background featured a translucent white gauze curtain printed with calligraphy font, flanked by pinkish-white peach blossoms and dark wooden flower stands, along with a small mahogany low table and a daybed covered with a white plush blanket. The lighting across the entire environment was handled very softly, with warm tones bringing a cozy and tranquil atmosphere to the images. I think when doing a traditional Chinese style or modified traditional Chinese style cosplay, the synergy between the scene and the props is incredibly important.

This time I worked with a very like-minded photographer, using a Sony A7M5 paired with an FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens. The quality of this lens is outstanding; under studio lighting conditions, it delivered excellent edge-to-edge sharpness and beautiful bokeh, whether for half-body close-ups or capturing full-body action shots. We intentionally selected a rich variety of angles, including a lazy seated pose leaning against the table, a slightly tipsy state holding a wine glass, and a standing pose leaning slightly forward while handing out a red packet. This sense of interaction and candid capture showcases the character's personality much better than rigid, staged poses.

For instance, in one of the seated sets, with fingers gently brushing the cheek and using the fan to guide the eyes' gaze, the look appears quite relaxed. Meanwhile, a high-angle shot taken very close to the tabletop emphasizes the focus of the gaze. I believe when portraying a cosplayed character, expressions don't need to be exaggerated; as long as the atmosphere is right, a subtle smile or natural spontaneity can convey exactly the vibe the character should have.

While organizing this final set of photos, I realized that the coordination of hair and makeup, costume, scenery, and lighting truly adds a lot to the final result. Photography is more than just clicking the shutter; pre-production preparation and dynamic energy onsite are both critical. We shot from afternoon all the way into the evening, and once it was over, I was actually quite reluctant to take off the makeup. This was my first time challenging this style of traditional Chinese look, and I hope everyone who looks through this set can feel the cozy, casual tea-drinking vibe we wanted to convey.
