Straight to the point, this time I shot a set of Marie Rose cosplay photos from Dead or Alive (DOA). All four photos were completed on a high-altitude viewing platform with a steel structure. The sunlight was extremely abundant, even slightly overexposed, but it perfectly created the cool white-toned texture I wanted.

Let's talk about the character herself first. Marie Rose's classic design features blonde twintails and heterochromia. To restore this feature, I wore an exclusive custom wig. The position and length of the black ribbon ties were adjusted across several versions to ensure the twintails were fluffy without looking heavy. Let's focus on this complex costume. The black and white color scheme combined with the splicing of leather straps and lace places high demands on the patterning and craftsmanship. There is a metal buckle design with crossed leather straps on the chest, along with a black lace choker at the neckline; these details clearly show their contours under the strong light. To match the overall combatant feel, the arm section retains detached sleeves, forming a contrast between white lace ruffles and black leather armguards. The multi-layered white ruffled miniskirt at the hem provides a rich sense of layering, while being paired with black multi-ring thigh straps and those highly substantial red-soled black-buckled platform boots. The red block on the sole and toe echoes the red eye in the heterochromia, which counts as a little clever touch in the styling.

To better present the agile sense of Marie Rose's character, we experimented with several different directions in the shooting poses. The first pose with a high leg lift both tests balance and requires the skirt hem and leg straps to coordinate into a proper stance, and the red-soled platform boots on the feet beautifully contour the leg lines. The second pose with clenched fists was meant more to showcase the character's combat power; the front details of the costume and the focus of the gaze can be clearly seen. The third one catches a strand of the twintail, being slightly softer and showcasing the playful side of the character. The fourth one switches to a close-up shot, pointing a finger at the cheek. Looking from the close-up lens, that pair of a blue left eye and a red right eye, combined with the light blonde hair color, offers quite a good visual impact.

Special thanks for this shoot go to the photographer Da Gang Ban @ump45大钢板. This kind of grand scene combined with backlighting and high contrast heavily tests a photographer's control over light and shadow. Instead of shooting the background into a dead white or large blocks of shadows, he utilized those steel structures to create a great sense of depth and geometric cutting effects, making the frame look more like a modern urban techwear style. At the same time, I would also like to thank the logistics team of 4.5 Dimension for helping handle the deployment of reflectors, which made the clothing details in the shadows clearly visible.

Every instance of doing a DOA cosplay is more than just putting on clothes; adjustments to the makeup and styling of the wig both require careful thought. This time, Marie Rose's overall makeup leaned toward clear transparency, with the focus all placed on the depiction of the eye makeup and pupil colors to highlight her heterochromia. Personally, I feel the beauty of this look lies in the fusion of a sweet-cool outfit vibe, possessing both the softness of lace and ruffles, and the tough temperament brought by leather straps and metal buckles. Shooting in such a high-brightness outdoor environment places high demands on the smoothness of the skin-tone base makeup. Fortunately, the final output photos seemed to achieve the expected texture. The above are some on-site records and reflections of this shoot; the overall atmosphere and texture completely met the expected standards.
