During the photoshoot for my all-time favorite character Yin Yue from A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality (Yin Yue cosplay / Kemonomimi cosplay), my primary focus was naturally bringing out the character's unique traits. This red-and-white outfit boasts exceptional texture with a subtle luster; the red waist sash and flowing tassels set against silvery-white tones provide strong visual impact. The footwear features tall white boots paired with black straps and red tassels; whether walking or seated, the dynamic swaying of the ornaments strongly highlights the character's agile charm. Foregoing stockings to directly display bare leg lines with the tall boots happened to fit the character's light, nimble canon setting perfectly.
Heterochromia is an essential element of the character—wearing the mismatched colored contacts was a slight challenge, but they adapted well under the lighting. The long white wig, animal ears (Kemonomimi cosplay), and tail required meticulous combing. To embody the sweet little wolf-girl temperament, working under photographer Tieban Onii-chan's lens at the animal photography meetup, the on-site lighting favored warm tones, harmonizing with wooden windowsills, bonsai pine trees, and foreground maple leaves to establish a deeply atmospheric setting for Anime-style photography.
Before the camera, I continuously tested sitting poses and expressions—such as leg alignment and body-weight tilt angles—all to showcase costume details and body lines more naturally. Sitting sideways with extended legs elongated visual proportions, while close-up shots demanded focused gaze control and the right curvature of a gentle smile. Minor issues like tangled tassels and flattened fur collars arose during the shoot, requiring brief pauses for adjustment. The overall makeup was kept clean and translucent, highlighting the Heterochromia eyes. Tieban Onii-chan is exceptionally skilled at dynamic candid captures, nailing many split seconds that embodied that sweet yet alert aura I envisioned. Preparing this favorite character took considerable time, and this photo set brings the vision to a satisfying completion.
