For this outdoor photoshoot at C106, I chose a deep blue and white dress. The costume features a distinct design—the off-the-shoulder halter neckline, the small floral pendant on the chest, and the multi-layered tulle skirt produced an ideal visual effect under natural outdoor lighting. The venue's lawn was primarily used as the background, utilizing a high camera angle and wide aperture to blur the crowd behind and make the subject stand out. Capturing a fluttering skirt outdoors is a technical task, requiring a gentle breeze or manually flicking ribbons to create movement. To capture the moment the skirt flew up, dozens of shots were taken consecutively before finding a satisfying one.
The legs were paired with white cross-straps and a leg ring, which, combined with the White stockings material, appeared elongated in frame and coordinated well with the overall blue-and-white color palette. Standing poses were great for showcasing overall body proportions, while crouching poses highlighted upper-body costume details and styling. The center of gravity was intentionally adjusted while crouching to keep the leg lines natural rather than stiff, using hand placement to enrich the composition.
Preparing this look required considerable effort. The short purple wig needed advance trimming and wax styling to maintain the curves of the bangs and tips. Purple contact lenses paired with blue-purple eyeshadow gave the gaze extra brilliance. To adapt to outdoor lighting, a long-lasting foundation was specifically chosen to prevent sweat from breaking down the makeup. Since the neck area is largely exposed, shading the neck and collarbones was essential; lightly applying contour powder added dimension.
Because the Anime convention was quite warm that day, the outfit was made of lightweight, breathable fabric, but the outer tulle easily caught stray grass when walking on the lawn, requiring constant cleanup and smoothing out of skirt folds between shots. In a crowded venue, finding an uncluttered background required shifting positions repeatedly; fortunately, this spot made good use of distant greenery without color clashes.
During the shoot, I chatted with fellow enthusiasts and discussed accessory placement, such as securing the white flower neckpiece with pins to prevent it from shifting during movement. Overall, despite dealing with weather and crowd challenges at C106, proper coordination successfully captured the beauty of the costume. Bringing a character to life in one's own way is deeply rewarding. This is truly the meaning of continuing to do cosplay—constantly refining makeup, styling, and expressiveness through practical experience.
