This character from Inazuma's Chronicled Wish banner incorporates many dreamlike elements into her design, and this time I took the full costume and props out for an outdoor photoshoot. During early communications with photographer @Tudougou, we envisioned a setting surrounded by pink blossoms—aiming for an effect that blended fantastical elements with tangible texture. To match the character's palette, we selected cherry blossom trees as our main background, diving into the shoot while natural lighting remained soft and gentle.
For makeup, special thanks go to makeup artist @Yuanyuanhui. Since the character demands refined facial contours and a natural skin-blend for elf ears cosplay, the makeup was kept clear and translucent rather than heavy, using light pink-purple eye shadows to highlight her lively essence. The light blue long curly wig posed combing challenges due to weather-induced static, but after careful adjustments, the wig's volume and overall silhouette reached an ideal state—capturing lovely moments as wind blew through hair during candid snapshots.
The costume represented the weightiest part of the photoshoot. The pink-purple gradient tones and wide kimono sleeves created visual lightness, though the fabric carried substantial weight to maintain proper drape. A purple tied knot at the waist paired with a white ruffled short skirt beautifully proportioned the waistline, yielding an elongated silhouette. Behind, a subtle tail adorned with cloud patterns swayed naturally while walking, enhancing character playfulness. Prop choices aligned closely with character lore—a tray holding delicate tea sets, a pink-and-white fan, and tassels hanging from costume tags added dimensional richness.
Throughout the shoot, I continuously adjusted expressions and posture to match scenes. Holding the tea tray required steady posture and gentle eyes to convey a quiet tea-serving atmosphere. Switching to the fan allowed more expansive movements under passing breezes—raising the fan to partially shield my face while letting hair sweep backward helped the camera capture dynamic flow. Handling post-processing myself, I focused on fine-tuning color temperature and background brightness. Raw environmental light was overly pink; using contrast and color balance allowed me to distinguish her blue hair and pink-purple garments from blurred cherry blossom backgrounds, achieving a cold-and-warm dreamlike contrast without letting background elements steal the spotlight.
Despite portraying a Japanese-style anime aesthetic character, finding the sweet spot between real-world outdoor lighting and background framing proved crucial. Adjusting tree heights and camera angles required ongoing coordination with the photographer to avoid background distractions or awkward framing. Overall yield from this set proved deeply satisfying; its unique Japanese aesthetic and iconic blue hair will certainly draw attention at conventions or offline events. Finally, special thanks to the photographer and makeup artist for their professional collaboration during this photoshoot, allowing me to comfortably bring out the true essence of the character.
