This time, I shot this Houraisan Kaguya cosplay look at the Huaguimeng Studio, with the overall style leaning toward a combination of autumn maple leaves and an ancient-style room. The makeup specially emphasized the red pupils and soft skin tone, which, paired with her iconic long straight black hime-cut hair, aimed to recreate Kaguya-hime's temperament of being both elegant and slightly cool.
I really like the texture of the costume; the layered pink and yellow tops create a great sense of depth, and the dark red embroidered gold bamboo leaves and floral patterns on the hem are rich in detail, showing a fantastic reflective effect under the warm lighting. During the shoot, glowing paper lanterns and a glowing sphere were used as light-source props. Especially that glowing sphere, held in my hand in the fourth photo, combined with the large areas of red leaves and wooden furniture around, creates the feeling of a secret lunar palace realm. The photographer, Teacher Ruoye, was highly professional in controlling light and shadow, both highlighting the facial details of the character and capturing the sense of depth in the scene. As for the props, that colorful slender twig added just the right touch of embellishment so the frame wouldn't look too monotonous.
This time, we shot from multiple angles including lying on the back, reclining, sitting, and standing while holding props, and the post-processing preserved the original warm tones of the scene, making the whole set of photos look like a scroll painting. As part of my studio photoshoot daily life, because it was a studio shoot, the light was completely controllable, which allowed for a better display of the clothing's embroidery and the texture of the hair strands. I have always loved Touhou cosplay; Kaguya's character setting inherently carries a quiet yet mysterious sense of story, and being able to complete this set of works in this exquisite real-scene studio maximized the experience. From wearing the costume to expressing emotions, I hoped to fit the character as much as possible, which also counts as a small breakthrough for my own cosplay skills in this Japanese-style photography piece.
