While color-grading the raw photos, \"Safe & Sound\" was playing on loop. Looking at the snowfield and the sky turning from blue to black, that lonely yet comforting artistic vibe was completely evoked. Bringing this Alice Margatroid cosplay styling this time, I completed a deeply meaningful winter outdoor shoot in sub-zero outdoor conditions.
To restore this character's classic image from Touhou Project as much as possible, my outfit centered primarily on white, light blue, and soft pink. The shirt selected featured delicate black lace trim and extensive pleating, while the pink bow at the collar brightened the overall color palette just right. The outer layer was paired with an off-white hooded cape featuring exquisite floral lining, serving as both primary cold-protection and adding rich fabric texture within pure white snow. Holding the heavy, vintage book prop in hand, the red-and-gold cross ribbon binding was exceptionally eye-catching, acting as a crucial visual anchor during shooting. The close-up in Photo 11 is my personal favorite nighttime composition: the halo from the Vintage lantern softly illuminates my face, and being shot after twilight, surrounding areas were filled with deep blue ambient light. The fusion of cool-toned night scenery and warm lamp shadows, complemented by lace details on the wig and costume, made the overall emotional mood fit perfectly.
Temperatures on the actual shooting day were even lower than I expected, with heavy snow accumulation. Between shutter clicks, cold winds kept creeping into collars and cuffs, completely freezing my fingers—yet this strangely matched the character's slightly cool demeanor. Photographer @TiebanYouyu spent the entire time carrying equipment through ice and snow to find angles; we navigated between a thick old tree and light-blue Western-style buildings, attempting to blend retro fairytale vibes into every frame. The indoor shots taken by the window during the day featured wonderful light and shadow, where sunlight leaking through white sheer curtains edged the dress lace with gold rims, yielding extremely soft colors. When blue hour arrived, ambient temperatures dropped further, but strolling across the vast snowfield holding a Vintage lantern fully immersed me into the desired atmosphere; standing still without forced acting already felt rich with storytelling for this Snow scene cosplay shoot.
I really love the lyric \"When the night falls, you and I will definitely be safe and sound.\" Though surrounded by cold night, that small Vintage lantern constantly provided a steady sense of tranquility. This northern winter-exclusive cool blue tone, together with that tiny flame, formed the core visual contrast of the entire photoset. We didn't intentionally reach for complex emotional expressions, simply letting the character quietly reside in this snow-covered environment. This scene naturally carries an undisturbed serenity, perfectly fitting the peaceful yet independent visual feel I wished to present in this Cosplay photography project.
The final selection of photos spans diverse compositions from close-ups to expansive long shots. Whether long shots fully merging into snowfields or close-ups revealing prop details down to the finest threads, every frame recorded the care put into this outdoor shoot. Many thanks to the photographer's hard work in combining costume fabric textures, environmental light-and-shadow shifts, and winter serenity so impeccably. This photo-creation experience felt very complete, with outdoor and indoor light-shadow sets forming a fantastic rhythmic contrast. I hope this photoset with its fairytale quality can convey that quiet, calming energy.
