[Castorice cosplay] Snow Falls and Butterflies Rest: Tenderness and Desolation from the Underworld in Honkai: Star Rail - Image 1

For this on-location Castorice cosplay shoot, the core intent was to capture that ethereal, tranquil, yet profoundly gentle Ethereal vibe belonging to the Underworld in Honkai: Star Rail.

The overall costume choice was a white-and-purple dress: the deep purple pleated skirt on the bottom paired with white ruffled trims reflects a subtle, flowing sheen under lighting. What satisfied me most was the thorn crown atop my head—delicate white and pink blossoms adorn the dark, sharp branches, while large deep-purple bows on both sides beautifully balance the visual weight of the styling, softening the headpiece's innate sharpness. For the wig, I deliberately chose long curly white locks with a soft purple gradient dip-dye, whose airy volume created a very harmonious head-to-shoulder ratio.

Regarding makeup and styling, the foundation pursued translucent, fair skin, emphasizing luminous highlights in the blue-purple irises paired with deep crimson lips to express the character's serene state suspended between life and death. The wide black choker and central bow at the neck served as a crowning touch, bridging youthful lightness with a touch of gothic mystery. The glowing orb prop cradled in my hands was the soul of the shoot; we used this low-brightness warm-white light source to cast gentle fill lighting beneath my face, creating an interwoven interplay of warm and cool tones against the cool-toned ambient light.

The set incorporated white plaster pillars alongside cascading white floral garlands and a few deep crimson roses; this red-and-white contrast under a cool-toned filter took on a ceremonial, ritualistic solemnity. To match this Aloof beauty and solitary theme, I consciously subdued my facial expressions during shooting, avoiding overt smiles and relying on my gaze to convey faint divinity.

The humorous "baby food/healing snack" tag in the original text is actually quite fitting here—perhaps because these cool tones combined with a soft-glow atmosphere offer a peaceful, soothing visual comfort, perfect for winding down after a busy day. As a cosplayer long active in the ACG space, immersing myself in characters steeped in intense mysticism is always deeply rewarding for Anime cosplay.

Forgoing aggressive airbrushing or heavy skin-smoothing to preserve natural skin texture and hair fiber luster remains my aesthetic bottom line. Exceptional cosplay relies not only on replicating garments and wigs, but on capturing the irreplaceable soulful essence of the character. Although finding the right lighting took significant time and energy, seeing that serene yet tense vitality captured in the final photos made every effort worthwhile.

While this makeup styling isn't something one can wear every day, within this character-specific space, it unleashes its unique aesthetic entirely. I hope the quiet serenity by the banks of the Underworld reaches everyone through these lenses.
