Our summer casual photoshoot featuring Robin cosplay and Sunday Cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail is finally complete! Looking back at the behind-the-scenes details of this shoot: because we opted for relatively casual outfits, the lighting was deliberately dialed to soft, cool-white tones to cultivate an airy, refreshing summer vibe (Anime-style photography).
First, regarding Robin's styling: the wig is a light-blue short cut. To create that voluminous, layered texture, quite a bit of time went into heat-styling, blending peach-pink highlights between the strands. The floral twig hairpiece atop the head was handcrafted ahead of time with intricate nuances. Makeup emphasized the eyes, pairing green contact lenses with soft peachy-orange blush to look more lively. The top was an off-the-shoulder white cropped tee with subtle colorful prints, paired with orange shorts, along with an orange wristband and a blue choker, creating bright, harmonious color accents. For footwear, light-colored sneakers with white crew socks kept the silhouette lightweight and comfortable for moving around.
Sunday's styling also underwent extensive fine-tuning. His wig is long light-blue hair, with the prominent golden starburst hair accessory standing out—requiring precise positioning to capture dimensional depth before the lens. To fit the casual look, his outfit paired a light-blue short-sleeved button-up over a white tee with denim jeans, projecting an effortless, laid-back charm. The ends of the wig and the light-blue shoulder accents had to be anchored securely, as they could easily tangle during takes. The white ribbon tied around his wrist was another delicate touch, elevating the layering of the ensemble (Sunday Cosplay).
Throughout the session, Fanta bottles served as the unifying prop. Initially, we just wanted to add slice-of-life authenticity with a beverage, but the vivid pop of color on the Fanta bottle felt remarkably natural to pose with. For solo shots, I experimented with holding the bottle beside my cheek or kicking up a leg while flashing a peace sign, which felt dynamic and playful. For duo shots, we posed back-to-back or stood staggered one behind the other, holding our Fanta bottles while sharing glances toward the lens. Since it was a two-person shoot, syncing our blocking and eye lines took some trial and error; the photographer constantly adjusted our marks to ensure neither of us blocked the rim lights behind us.
Lighting-wise, the key light was fitted with a softbox against a clean solid backdrop, making the blue tones of the characters and outfits pop cleanly. Looking back on the whole session, casual-style cosplay truly hinges on effortless naturalism—poses don't need to be exaggerated; candidly chatting while holding a drink yielded far better results. This wardrobe was wonderful for summer; though wearing wigs in the heat was stifling, seeing the final cuts felt profoundly satisfying. This set is not merely character roleplay, but an archive of everyday life. Loving these characters so much, being able to wear their outfits and shoot together brought immense joy.
