This Helektra cosplay primarily aims to recreate the costume, makeup, and prop details based on the Honkai: Star Rail Omphalos setting. Starting with the hairstyle, long dark hair paired with blunt bangs serves as the foundation for the entire look. The bangs were trimmed relatively thick to flatter the face shape, while the side strands falling naturally give off a mysterious yet gentle feel. What draws me in most is the purplish-red gradient highlight at the ends of the hair—this high-saturation color shift looks stunning under indoor lighting. When cosplaying this kind of character, the smoothness of the wig fibers is also crucial, as tangles can ruin the overall premium texture. I made sure to apply wig conditioning spray and layer it carefully so that selfies remain clean and neat.

The eye makeup is the soul of the entire look. Since the wig already sets a cool-toned baseline, I chose earth tones for the eye shadow to deepen the eye socket, layered with a hint of cool grayish-blue to echo the color palette of the costume. For contacts, I picked a pair with a blue textured design; with a relatively large diameter, they enlarge the eyes nicely and add vitality to the gaze. I went with a semi-enclosed eyeliner, slightly winging out the outer corners to make the eyes look sharper. For the lower eyelid, I drew in the aegyosal and a subtle eye drop, accented by glitters on the cheekbones to give the skin a dewy glow under the flash. Many ask how to keep this kind of makeup from looking muddy—my tip is to blend in small amounts across multiple layers, always using a clean blending brush for seamless transitions.

As for accessories, the white, pointed bone headpiece has a lot of character. Due to its rigid material, I secured it firmly to the upper side using bobby pins and hairspray, ensuring it wouldn't easily slip no matter how I moved my head. The blue hair clips served as a great contrasting accent. The beaded necklace on the neck is the central focal point—strung with translucent beads of brilliant luster, featuring a white shell-shaped base at the bottom with a central pearl pendant, connected to a red Y-shaped ornament below. Although the necklace has some weight to it, it flatters the necklines beautifully and makes the neck appear slender on camera. On the ears, I paired matching translucent white spherical earrings that harmonize well with the necklace.

The collar design features ruffles with a black base and white trim, adding a vintage touch of grandeur and texture to the character. The main body of the outfit utilizes layered prints and patchwork in dark blue, white, and gray, with exquisite white cut-out patterns on the chest and tailoring that fully accentuates the shoulder and neck silhouette. Because the outfit itself leans toward subdued cool tones, I deliberately paired it with bright red gloves. The vivid red not only breaks up the monotony of the overall palette but also echoes the red pendant on the necklace, creating strong contrast and dramatic flair in the frame. The gloves also feature refined white metallic accents, making hand gestures appear more elegant and glamorous.

Capturing this type of styling in indoor selfies is quite a test of lighting and angles. Both photos were shot with a smartphone front camera under indoor light sources. Photo 1 shows the details of the eyes and hair strands more clearly, but I feel the composition of Photo 2 is better for display—raising the red-gloved hand toward the lens reveals the clear neck accessories and costume layers while using foreground depth to expand the spatial sense. Lacking natural outdoor lighting, I made the best of ceiling lighting and direct frontal indoor light to sculpt clear facial contours. The base makeup must be kept extremely clean and seamless, as bright direct light easily highlights flaws and dullness; I applied matte highlighter to brighten the center of the face, making the final photos look smooth and refined.

Overall, in bringing this styling to life, handling the weight of the accessories and securing the wig took considerable preparation. While I did my best to faithfully recreate Helektra under Honkai: Star Rail's Omphalos theme, this remains a secondary creative interpretation shaped by personal perspective; my apologies if anything feels off to fans of the original work. Nevertheless, as a cosplayer, bringing 2D concept details into reality step by step and wearing them is truly fulfilling.
