[Ereshkigal cosplay] Goddess of the Underworld Descends at Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo: Fate/Grand Order

On the first day of the 38th Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, I brought out the full look of Ereshkigal from Fate/Grand Order for an outdoor shoot. Unlike typical indoor studio photography, this outdoor photography session started right after laying down a few puzzle foam mats on the outdoor flagstone ground. In fact, this environment close to the convention venue offered a more authentic atmosphere for interaction, with other cosplayers and tourists passing by serving as interesting blurred backgrounds.

First, let's talk about the details of this look. The blonde wig with straight bangs, paired with large red velvet bows on both sides, forms the visual focus of the head area. Due to the wig's length and volume, it can easily get messy in the outdoor breeze, so I applied hairspray before heading out to ensure a fluffy shape in front of the camera. For makeup, light-colored contacts and orange-red eyeshadow were paired with exaggerated false eyelashes to extend the outer eye corners, aiming to capture her majestic yet vibrant disposition. This slightly gothic makeup style relies heavily on lighting, but fortunately outdoor lighting conditions were better than expected without casting heavy shadows on the face.

Regarding costume and props, this black-and-red battle dress has many intricate details. The golden skull pendant on the chest is the soul of the attire; held by metal chains, it carries moderate weight without straining the neck. The black halter top features lace trimming combined with black semi-transparent puff sleeves, striking a balance between mystery and brightness. The leather studded belt around the waist and golden thigh ring on the leg enhance the outfit's layering and sharpness. This outfit flatters body proportions exceptionally well—the short skirt paired with ankle-high black leather high heels visually elongates leg lines, making it highly recognizable amidst convention crowds during our anime convention daily life.

On the photography side, I was thrilled to collaborate with NightDiva. We experimented with several camera angles for this Ereshkigal cosplay look. For example, a low-angle sitting pose extending both legs forward released a sense of presence and aura. Another standing shot reaching out toward the lens used wide-angle perspective distortion to enhance interactivity. We spent nearly an hour shooting outdoors; despite many passersby, natural prop interactions and surroundings made expressions and poses feel more relaxed than studio shoots. I was particularly satisfied with the close-up softly touching the skull necklace, where soft light brought out three-dimensional facial features. The sitting pose highlighted leg lines, where black high heels and golden thigh rings became striking visual elements.

Since Ereshkigal is deeply connected to the underworld in her lore, we avoided over-saturating color tones, preferring to reflect natural twilight lighting. The trio of red, black, and gold formed sharp visual contrasts in outdoor light, making the subject stand out. To preserve her lively essence, we didn't force a lifeless gothic gloom, but hoped to keep a touch of endearing gap-moe contrast in subtle movements.

The first day of Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was physically demanding with a tight schedule, but sharing this work on-site was immensely rewarding. Every cosplay requires extensive preparation, from wig trimming to outfit coordination; delivering satisfying images depends on every team member's support. I truly enjoyed this outdoor photography process—even sitting on foam mats by the roadside captured authentic moments. I hope this share lets everyone feel Ereshkigal's gentle yet captivating charm, while highlighting the unique photography aesthetic that outdoor convention settings bring to anime convention daily life.
