[Rossi cosplay] Arknights: Endfield Rossi Cosplay: A Serene Presentation Holding a Red Apple

This photoshoot presents a cosplay of Rossi from Arknights: Endfield. When cosplaying this character, the first things to solve are the beast ears on the head and her signature red jacket. The white base armor with silver trim adopted glossy material, while the inner red jacket is structured and sharp. To recreate the character's setting, the silver lining of the collar features a layer of reflective material that折射s the warm ambient light nicely during shooting, giving the overall look more dimension. The lower body and neck details were also faithfully recreated; the black leather choker not only focuses visual attention, but the crisscrossing thin cords prevent the neck area from looking empty.

For the wig, a light blonde shade matching the character was chosen. The bangs were fine-tuned without being styled stiffly, keeping a fluffy feel for a natural forehead transition. The side locks were not all tied into a high ponytail, but left to drape gracefully down both sides of the shoulders, which looks gentle from the front. Beast ear attachments were secured on the sides of the head, balancing the head's visual weight so it wouldn't easily shift during the shoot.

Regarding makeup, a matte foundation was used and kept slightly pale to smooth over skin texture, bringing it closer to a translucent 2D Anime cosplay look. The eye makeup was the focal point, utilizing dark brown eyeliner extended straight out, paired with contact lenses to make the gaze more focused. Pink horizontal line stickers were applied to both cheeks, an iconic element in Rossi's design that adds playfulness and mystery. To prevent makeup breakdown during long shoots, setting powder was pressed multiple times. The contact lenses chosen were large-diameter water-shine lenses, which fit comfortably and kept eyes from getting dry. The pink cheek stickers were carefully adjusted for symmetry, ensuring visual balance in the frame.

The red apple in the picture is actually a very interesting prop. Since a "Little Red Riding Hood" clue was mentioned before, I specially bought this fresh, rosy apple on the day of shooting, placing it in my palm close to the lens in composition. This action is not merely holding a prop, but an intentional choice to add a pop of bright color to the cool-toned outfit, creating a fun visual contrast for the audience. Under the current background and lighting, the roundness of the red apple echoes the brightness of the wig nicely. To avoid looking stiff with the apple, I tried various angles before settling on a semi-cupped posture where the apple rests naturally in the palm. This neither blocks the face or costume body, nor prevents the visual focus from naturally transitioning to the item in hand. My fingers were partially obscured rather than fully exposed, applying the principle of perspective to give the frame greater depth.

In terms of composition, extreme angles like high or low shots were avoided in favor of a slightly low eye-level shot. This better showcases the beast ear silhouette and wig volume, while elongating the neck line to make the posture look taller and straighter. Since the coat shoulders feature a widened design, this slightly upward angle highlights the coat's sharp structure instead. One hidden challenge with this outfit was the weather: the red and white combination feels quite thick, making outdoor shooting extremely hot. Therefore, an indoor venue was chosen, utilizing dim warm ceiling lights to create an atmospheric mood. The photos did not undergo heavy light-and-shadow editing, relying mostly on on-site lighting conditions. Focus was centered mainly on the eyes and the apple, creating a natural bokeh transition between foreground and background.

Actually, throughout this shoot, the most important feeling was capturing the character's core traits. Rossi is not an emotionally extroverted character; she possesses a very independent and serene aura. Thus, in Roleplay performance, exaggerated smiles are unnecessary; maintaining a slightly parted, natural lip state with a lowered gaze conveys a deeper sense of story instead. A nude brown lip glaze was used for lip makeup—subtle, yet anchoring the face's visual center of gravity.

As a casual-style cosplay costume, this look allows plenty of creative freedom when paired with props. Besides a red apple, switching to a bouquet of flowers or a paper book could evoke different vibes. This experience gave me a more intuitive feel for the world-building design of Arknights: Endfield; recreating this character with actual clothing allowed me to appreciate many clever design details. The entire shoot went smoothly, with several classic close-ups successfully capturing the desired state. Looking at the final shared photos, I feel the accuracy reached my expectations, and I love the feeling of bringing a 2D character into reality. Dedicating oneself to preparing and shooting every cosplay is, in itself, a complete joy.
