This duo project chose a rooftop scene. To fit the stern and cool atmosphere, we put a lot of thought into the lighting. The overall main color tone was set to a cool blue, utilizing rim-backlighting to outline the characters' silhouettes, making them stand out three-dimensionally against the deep blue sky background, while the harsh shadows on the ground also added a sense of narrative to the frame.

My Asuka Cosplay leans toward a casual uniform style. A black long-sleeved top paired with a white lapel collar and a red-and-black plaid tie, topped with a beret to tone down the liveliness of the orange-red twin tails. In this set of photos, my poses were mainly designed as a sitting posture, body slightly curled, with eyes gazing straight into the lens, aiming to convey Asuka's unique sense of guardedness and tsundere traits. The red, white, and black patterned long boots on the lower body stand out exceptionally well in texture under the cool light, brightening up the overall dark black-toned uniform.

My partner's Rei Ayanami cosplay is a custom-concept version. While retaining the character's aloof feel, the costume makes a bold breakthrough. The upper body features a white waist-cinching vest with a cross-strap design, surrounded by light blue decoration around the neck, draped loosely with an oversized blue jacket, and fluffy trimming at the cuffs adding a touch of lightness. The lower body is paired with blue ultra-short shorts, a red belt, and White stockings with garter clips. Custom-concept outfits often require extra attention to the coordination of cut and proportions; during the shoot, this pairing utilized a standing posture leaning slightly backward against a concrete wall, showcasing the character's sense of alienation and a certain degree of allure. The White stockings design works exceptionally well in elongating leg lines, paired with blue long boots featuring red straps, keeping the visual center of gravity very stable.

When framed together, the compositional contrast of one high and one low, one sitting and one standing, is very obvious. The color collision of red-and-black versus blue-and-white, combined with their vastly different temperaments—one outgoing and guarded, the other reserved and lazy—makes the entire frame full of tension. During the shoot, balancing two sets of costumes with different materials and colors under the same light beam was a difficulty. Black easily absorbs light, while white easily blows out; while adjusting camera angles and character positions, we repeatedly tested the lighting ratio to ensure both characters' facial lighting and costume details were clearly presented. The evening wind on the rooftop was very strong; to maintain the integrity of the hairstyles and the drape of the clothes, we had to grab snapshots whenever possible. This custom-concept experiment gave me a new understanding of the visual expression of these two characters.
