This time, the shoot features a set of custom-concept styling based on Asuka's personal style. Instead of completely following the plugsuit from the animation, I experimented with a more epic Red Knight and royal knight style. Red and white are Asuka's signature colors, so the large areas of wine-red velvet cloak and white inner lining set the base tone. To strengthen the feeling of "royal power," this gem-encrusted crown was specially customized, along with that mechanical silver arm armor; the contrast features both the delicacy of a young girl and the cold hardness of a warrior. Maneuvering that long sword during the shoot was truly exhausting; lifting it with one hand while maintaining the pose and managing facial expressions was tough, but fortunately, the oppressive aura of "ruling over the world" still came through beautifully in the final photos. The scene was specially chosen with white Roman columns and red rose arches, extending the red color from the ground into the background to make it visually both passionate and solemn. The photographer's lighting was very meticulous, with highlights falling on the metallic arm armor and the crown; that sharp feeling precisely matched Asuka's proud and stubborn personality. Although this is a custom concept, I feel that at her core, she remains that girl from Neon Genesis Evangelion who will never bow her head to anyone. The hem of this outfit drags very long on the ground, so I had to keep lifting it while walking on the red carpet, but it was all worth it for the visual effect. Many props were used on the day of the shoot, like that empty birdcage, which was actually meant to express a rebellion against being a "caged bird," but the final chosen set of images showing her holding the sword for coronation fits the feeling in my heart better. For cosplay, besides accurately recreating the original work from Neon Genesis Evangelion, being able to extend one's own interpretation based on the character is also a very interesting thing. The post-processing slightly deepened the contrast of colors, making the red richer and the metal more eye-catching. I hope everyone can feel that freezing yet gorgeous atmosphere.
