This Red and black color scheme is my visual presentation of a very classic impression of this character from Neon Genesis Evangelion. In terms of makeup and styling, I focused on recreating Asuka's signature highly saturated orange-red twin tails and her resolute blue eyes. The eye makeup didn't use excessive modern manga-style exaggeration techniques, but leaned more towards adjusting the eye shape to stay close to the hand-drawn setting's sharp look with slightly upturned outer corners.

For the apparel, I selected a red and black miniskirt that combines a Gothic style outfit with a youthful vibe. The primary red hue is extremely rich, forming a sharp contrast in color with the black lace gloves and choker. The cut of this skirt places quite a high demand on the extension of limbs; both standing and sitting poses require attention to the layers of the hem, and you can utilize the flare of the skirt during photos to increase the volume of the frame.

The shooting location was a common outdoor stone staircase. This cold gray background filled with geometric lines perfectly highlights the character's vibrant colors. Pairing it with black stockings and black flat Mary Jane shoes further echoes the red and black theme while preventing the overall look from appearing top-heavy. The lighting was chosen in a soft, diffuse reflection environment to avoid harsh shadows from ruining the translucency of the skin tone. In post-processing, the focus was on restoring the model's natural skin texture and slightly darkening the background brightness, making the red dress and orange hair the absolute visual center.

After being a cosplayer for all these years, I increasingly feel that capturing a character's soul through camera language is much more challenging than simply piling up props. For this session of Cosplay photography, we didn't intentionally pose in high-difficulty combat stances, but chose a relatively everyday yet slightly detached posture to exhibit Asuka's complex and highly charismatic personality traits. Although outdoor shooting comes with many uncertainties, I'm quite satisfied with the final prints.
