This shoot was chosen at a venue piled with discarded TVs and cables; as soon as you step in, that retro yet slightly cyberpunk vibe is very captivating. This abandoned space filled with e-waste actually fits very well with the sci-fi feel hidden beneath everyday life in Steins;Gate. As the assistant, naturally, it shouldn't just be the conventional outfit. For this shoot, I made some subtle adjustments to the clothing. The classic white shirt and red tie retain the core identifiers of the character, which are her most obvious features. However, for the lower body, I switched to black leather shorts, paired with translucent black stockings and platform Martin boots. This combination not only elongates the leg lines, but also makes her look cooler and more action-oriented, bringing out a slightly rebellious tsundere vibe, which perfectly matches the assistant's sharp-tongued yet soft-hearted personality.
During the shoot, I was also constantly searching for that eye state belonging to her. Makise Kurisu is a genius; she has her own pride and confidence. Therefore, when facing the camera, I tried to make my gaze look focused and slightly sharp, matching blue contact lenses, trying to recreate that rational glow of hers. In some photos, I held an old-fashioned telephone handset, or leaned against these old cathode-ray tube televisions; those snowy screens and messy cables were like some kind of space-time crossover tunnel, and I felt as if I were conducting some sort of deduction in this space. I really like using these props to enrich my body language, such as sitting in that pile of black cables, or holding the handset as if transmitting some confidential information, all of which helped me immerse myself in the character's atmosphere faster.
To be honest, shooting this set of pictures was quite not easy; there are many kinds of wires in the venue, so moving around and posing required a lot of care, and a slight carelessness could lead to tripping. Leather shorts and platform boots are indeed a bit stuffy when worn in summer, and to highlight the leg line sense, I kept trying various standing and sitting postures, trying to make the glossiness presented by the black stockings achieve the best effect. But seeing the texture of light and shadow hitting the black stockings and leather shorts in the final photos, as well as the cold yet slightly sexy contrast of the entire picture, I felt everything was quite worth it. In this space full of old appliances, I hope to present a Makise Kurisu who is full of rational logic and carries a unique personal charm. That sense of composure shown by the character in an environment intertwined with ruins and technological sense is the feeling I most wanted to convey this time.
