Before shooting this Chien Wu qipao set, we spent plenty of time discussing set design with the photography team. Considering Chien Wu's qipao design in Azur Lane, we staged the studio space with rich Chinese vintage aesthetics. The towering round wooden moon-gate frame, carved folding screens, and cascading wisteria vines in the background were all designed to evoke a serene, slightly languid ambiance. A plush white faux-fur blanket covered the floor, feeling wonderfully soft underfoot while creating a striking contrast against the vivid blue and red tones of the qipao. Today, I'd love to share behind-the-scenes details and personal thoughts from this Cosplay photoshoot.

The nuances of the garment itself are truly remarkable. This modernized qipao in blue with red floral blossoms features a halter-neck backless cut that strictly mirrors the tailoring in her canon artwork. Red frog buttons adorn the mandarin collar, layered with a luminous strand of round pearls that elevates the elegance. I also styled an oversized blue floral hairpin to echo the blue base of the dress. Because Chien Wu canonically features red eyes, the crimson cosmetic contacts and coordinating makeup were top priorities. For lips, I chose a warm, orange-tinted red that delivers a vibrant glow on camera without looking overly harsh. Delicate glitter flecks on the shoes caught light off the reflectors, offering lovely impromptu sparkles during shooting.

For the lower half, black fitted shorts were styled with lace-trimmed Black stockings. During takes, the photographer regularly reminded me to mind leg contours. Whether seated on a wooden chair with legs crossed or reclining across the plush blanket for a glance back, steady core engagement was needed so the hosiery hugged leg lines smoothly and gracefully. Holding the black feather folding fan—whether resting gently on my lap or half-concealing my face—naturally summoned that sultry allure. The sheer tulle shawl draped softly across my arms and torso, fluttering with subtle movement to layer dynamic depth into the frame.

Tabletop props were equally curated with care: blue-and-white porcelain medicine bottles, miniature teacups, and an open wooden jewelry box in red. Small as they were, they profoundly enriched the vintage Chinese aesthetic. Even the grapes and cherries in the fruit compote were placed to inject vivid color into the palette. The weather was rather warm, making the long sheer shawl feel somewhat stuffy, but preserving cohesive aesthetics made persevering easy.

Varying angles captured completely distinct moods. Sitting upright on the chair, I straightened my back to highlight the clean-cut beauty of the qipao; leaning across the table or resting on the blanket, I relaxed my shoulders into an effortless, lounging state. I personally adore the glance-back shot on the blanket, where lighting caught my back through the translucent shawl, rendering both skin texture and floral patterns with crystal clarity. The final lighting and atmosphere matched my vision completely, and I hope this oriental styling reveals another side of Chien Wu's charm.
