[Kinomoto Sakura cosplay] Red and White Battle Costume: Recreating the Moment the Seal is Released

Sharing these photos of the Kinomoto Sakura cosplay red-and-white battle costume taken at the Changsha Anime Convention. This costume has rich layers, with a structured outer skirt and numerous white ruffles underneath, creating a voluminous silhouette. The large red bow on the chest and the white wings on the back look wonderfully three-dimensional under the event lighting. The magic wand also has a comfortable length and weight, feeling steady in hand. To match the outfit, over-the-knee White stockings were paired with red block heels adorned with bows, nicely flattering the leg lines.

The convention floor was very crowded, so we sought out a relatively clean angle, utilizing a wide-aperture lens to blur the ceiling and cluttered background. The first photo features a single-leg stance, which required balance since the puffy skirt made the center of gravity trickier to manage. This perspective highlights the leg lines and the side silhouette of the dress, and photographer Er Xiong captured the timing cleanly. The second image adopts a slight forward-leaning pose with the wand pointing toward the ground; combined with the digitally added pink magic circle and petal effects, the composition carries a stronger dynamic feel.

The ambient lighting in the hall was somewhat flat and relied primarily on bounced lighting, so we introduced side-back lighting to suppress background distractions and enhance three-dimensionality. Post-processing preserved fabric textures without excessive airbrushing or warping, maintaining an authentic, natural quality. The design of this battle costume is well-suited for a convention setting, allowing smooth movement. Overall, it was a rewarding photoshoot experience, merging costume craftsmanship with technical photography to faithfully represent the character.
