The on-site photos from this Chengdu Worldline Comic Con have finally been edited and released. The weather on that day was amazing—an overcast day perfectly suited for outdoor shooting. The diffused light hitting the body eliminated any worries about harsh top lighting causing heavy facial shadows, making the overall lighting exceptionally soft.
This casual-style Unicorn cosplay outfit is truly comfortable to wear. The white sleeveless high-neck dress is form-fitting without being tight, and the thin black straps at the waist nicely define the waistline. To recreate that lazy yet slightly playful feeling, I deliberately wore the brown chunky-knit cardigan half-slipped off, exposing both shoulders. The texture of this sweater is quite thick, which was just right for blocking the wind outdoors, and wearing it half-slipped visually makes the arm lines look slimmer during on-site shooting.
A lot of thought went into the head styling. I pre-trimmed the bangs of the light purple wig, and added micro-curls and partial blue highlights at the hair ends. The white nurse hat on top of the head and the pink-and-white bows on the sides are the finishing touches; wearing them required using many bobby pins to secure them to the wig net to ensure they wouldn't easily tilt while walking around the comic con.
The white tights worn on the legs were chosen as opaque thick ones, paired with white soft-soled slip-on loafers, which not only unified the look visually but also kept my feet from getting too tired after walking all day. The black folding stool/ladder, a must-have for convention photos, is truly a great helper. Sitting on it allowed me to avoid the messy crowds on the ground while making it convenient for the photographer to adjust angles. I tried a few different sitting postures, and the crossed-leg pose yielded the best photos, effectively elongating the leg lines and showcasing the texture of the white stockings.
In terms of props, I prepared a black clipboard and a toy syringe. On the paper clipped to the clipboard, I even hand-drew a cute doodle expression, adding a bit of vivid detail. When shooting the photo holding the syringe, I coordinated with the clipboard, and the photographer captured a quite satisfactory expression.
The charm of comic con convention photos lies in that natural and casual vibe. Although there were many passersby and photographers in the background, under the blur of a wide-aperture lens, they instead became great atmospheric accents. The entire process was about constantly communicating angles with the photographer and adjusting my state to ensure both gaze and movements matched the character's temperament. Every time I see the final feature photos, I feel that the effort and careful preparation of that day were worth it. In terms of lighting handling, I also tried my best to cooperate with the photographer's guidance, using natural light to create a translucent skin texture. Clothing wrinkles and material details, such as the sweater's texture and the white stockings' matte feel, required special attention during the shoot so that the resulting photos would have more texture. All in all, this shoot went very smoothly and left behind many satisfactory moments.
