[Nefer cosplay] Genshin Impact Secret Pavilion Proprietor: Convention Photos Record

Stepping into the fantasy of Genshin Impact, this time as Nefer, the proprietor of the Secret Pavilion, I brought this outfit to the convention for a convention photos shoot. From its character design, this Nefer cosplay look carries a strong metallic texture and sense of mystery, so throughout the actual shoot, I was constantly looking for a visual presentation that fit the boss's calm, elegant, yet otherworldly and detached demeanor.

The choice of venue was carefully considered—an exhibition hall featuring massive metal trusses and thick load-bearing columns. The spotlights from the ceiling provided ample key lighting on the face and body, perfectly reflecting the texture and sheen of the metallic gold accessories and mirrored high heels. In post-processing, we deliberately desaturated the background to black and white, preserving only the dark green, gold, and teal tones on the character. This visual contrast gave these convention photos a striking graphic separation, making the character stand out remarkably.

Wearing this outfit, what impressed me most was the attention to detail. The golden horned headpiece paired with short teal hair is visually unmistakable; the long dark teal gloves on my arms, finished with metallic pointed claw designs at the fingertips, required maintaining conscious grace in every movement, as any slight carelessness would look overly aggressive. The garment's cut is daring—a high-waisted midriff cut combined with cross-strapped pauldrons, a black thigh strap, and metallic pointed-toe high heels create exceptionally sleek lines. While enhancing both sensuality and strength, it also thoughtfully considered depth and layering within the real-world convention setting.

During the shoot, I sat on a simple metal folding chair on-site. This mechanical, industrial environment created a wonderful contrast with the flowing, luxurious ribbons of my costume. The ribbons were extremely soft, and arranging these long teal-gradient streamers during full-body shots took patience—I had to adjust their layers so they draped naturally in the air, landing right at the focal tension points of the composition. To convey Nefer's composure as the shop boss, I crossed my legs with one toe lightly elevated to balance the weight of the high heel. Although holding this pose was tiring, it gave the character an effortlessly relaxed and confident appearance through the lens.

Wearing this setup at the convention drew quite a bit of attention, especially the golden mirror-finish heels, which not only offered brilliant reflections but also flattered the lines of the ankles and calves naturally. Many passersby instinctively noticed the heels first before taking in the entire ensemble. As the cosplayer in the frame, I feel convention photos capture not just the costume itself, but also that fleeting state of communication when embodying a character in a real-world environment.

Preparing this outfit was no easy task. The dark green top and accessories with geometric patterns needed thorough checking and ironing well in advance to prevent wrinkles from undermining the texture from a distance. The metal armbands and clawed gloves took considerable time to put on and take off, but once on site, slipping into character made all the tedious preparations worthwhile. As an anime fan and cosplayer, bringing a design with an independent aura, strong presence, and aesthetic beauty into reality is profoundly fulfilling.

Converting the original color shots into a black-and-white background with a color-preserved subject was an interesting post-processing experiment, allowing the saturated character to "pop" amidst the bustling convention background. There is no need to view the 2D world and reality as separated by insurmountable barriers; when you wear a fully realized look on-site, matched with the surrounding lighting and setting, 2D characters blend naturally into the 3D convention space.
