Ever since I first saw the original concept art for the "Spring Unrestrained" outfit for Yu Linglong in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, I decided to do my absolute best to restore the characteristics of this look. The focus of this cosplay photoshoot is to capture that unique temperament which is both ethereal and drifting, yet lazy and a bit alluring.
Regarding the costume part, the styling design this time highly tests the layered sense of the tailoring. Large areas of white and light purple tulle fabrics interweave, presenting a very light and translucent texture under light transmission. The golden metal accessories on the chest and waist are inlaid with gemstones. To fit the character, I specially selected matching beads consistent with the original setting. The long golden fingernail armor on the hands is the crowning touch; although it's not very convenient to make movements while wearing them, it truly turns the character's lively charm up to the max in a second. My favorite design is actually the white fuzzy ankle cuffs at the ankles. Combined with the switching between bare feet and transparent high heels, it creates a powerful sense of visual contrast, being both cute yet alluring.
In terms of makeup and hair this time, I chose a cool-white base makeup to highlight the skin tone. Light purple was used for the outer corners of the eyes and eyeshadow to echo the gradient dye of the hair color, and a gentle peach shade was chosen for the lip color, hoping to present a healthy complexion yet cool and detached feeling. The wig color is silver-white with a touch of lavender light purple, with smooth strands, and plus the plush animal ears on top, the completion of the overall styling has reached my expectations.
The scene setup for the shoot is also highly atmospheric. The large circular wooden screen in the background is the crowning touch, providing excellent light transmission. The floor is covered with warm, woven bamboo tatami mats, complemented by two vibrantly colored oil-paper umbrellas on the left and right, as well as pink cherry blossom branches hanging overhead, creating a courtyard feel filled with Eastern classical aesthetics. This Chinese-style Xianxia scene paired with modern anime-style heavy-detailed designs integrates beautifully for great photos.
In terms of movement design, I intentionally tried several directions. Standing postures can display the overall flowing feel of the clothing and the height-to-leg proportions, working with transparent chunky high heels to elongate the lines. However, for more shots, I chose to sit on a bench or directly kneel, which allowed me to unfold that lazy aura more freely. For instance, stepping bare-footed on a stone, or crossing my legs while holding a starfish-like prop up to my lips, or leaning my body forward slightly to look straight into the lens, transmitting that unconsciously leaking alluring feeling through my gaze.
From early pre-production to post-processing adjustments, we put a lot of thought into this cosplay photoshoot. The lighting selected features soft and layered light and shadow, which wouldn't overshadow the light tulle texture of the clothes and the shimmer of the accessories, but instead allows the whole person to exude a hazy halo. Anime-style photography is actually not just mechanically freezing a frame, but more about feeling what kinds of movements and emotions this character should have in a specific context. The skin name "Spring Unrestrained" itself has a beautiful artistic conception, and I also hope that in this set of photos, everyone can feel that kind of beauty where spring flowers are in full bloom yet do not restrain their own sharpness. I hope this set of cos work with Chinese-style Xianxia elements can make people who like this character feel the creator's sincerity.
