The focus of this shoot was placed entirely on the synergy between poses and lighting, deliberately selecting the lying pose—considered a top must-shoot pose by many fellow enthusiasts—as the main visual anchor. Rather than using conventional front lighting or flat light, I communicated with the photography team to adopt a more three-dimensional light-and-shadow contrast to build visual depth. This prevented the composition from feeling too flat, infusing it with an exotic sense of spatial depth and mystery.

This Nilou costume is packed with details—from adjusting the color highlights on the wig and fixing the horned headpiece in place, to the heavy gold gauntlets on the wrists—every aspect was crafted to align as closely with the character as possible. As for the attire, the blue-and-white cropped top with a midriff-baring cut, paired with a dark blue skirt adorned with tassels, gives the overall look plenty of breathing room. The gold leg wraps and high-heeled sandals serve as key visual highlights, which is why I chose the lying pose as the cover photo; this composition beautifully elongates the leg lines and captures the character's relaxed, lazy aura through casual posing.

For scene design, we made full use of carpets and tapestries rich in exotic flavor; the large sun totem in the background served as a great visual anchor, breaking up the monotony of studio shooting. Regarding props, a wooden chest filled with white pearls and red grapes played in hand added vivid touches to the frame, helping construct a sense of character immersion.

Shooting the lying pose was actually far more physically demanding than it looks. To maintain a natural posture, I had to balance my body weight evenly across my shoulders, back, and hips, while carefully controlling tension in my pointed toes and calves to ensure the leg straps and sandals fit perfectly. Hand placement was equally critical—it couldn't look stiff and needed a casual, relaxed feel. Only after multiple continuous shots did we capture this moment where both the closed eyes and body posture felt naturally aligned.

Besides the lying pose, I also experimented with standing poses paired with water splash effects. While the water splashes offered dynamic movement, I ultimately felt that the static lying pose better fitted the character's naturally quiet, mysterious, and warm exotic maiden trait. In the light and shadow layout, dark shadows were intentionally preserved so light concentrated on the face, collarbones, and leg straps—highlighting metallic sheens while enriching the image's tonal contrast.

For makeup, I selected a skin-matching foundation base to avoid over-smoothing skin, paired with orange-red eyeshadow and red lips that echoed the hair color. During the shoot, because the outfit accessories were quite heavy, many poses had to be executed in place, which unexpectedly suited the character's blend of airy lightness and poised stability. This Genshin Impact cosplay shoot didn't rely heavily on complex post-processing edits; instead, focus was directed toward refining composition and lighting, hoping to offer a practical concept reference for exotic style cosplay photography. The tone of the entire Cosplay photoshoot remains understated, without flashy filter rendering, aiming to faithfully recreate the character's aura through solid costume design, hair/makeup, and lighting.
