[Nahida Cosplay] Genshin Impact Dendro Archon: Shaping the Details of the God of Wisdom

This shoot used an 85mm prime lens paired with softboxes in the studio, providing relatively even lighting. To faithfully recreate the character image of the Dendro Archon Nahida from Genshin Impact, I had a tailor custom-make this green-and-white dress; the layering of the tulle skirt looked very clean against the pure white background. The hair underwent multiple wig styling sessions, featuring a green gradient at the tips, paired with white elf ears and rabbit-ear hairpieces—these props all needed to be firmly secured with glue and bobby pins to avoid wardrobe malfunctions during shooting. During the shoot, I tried two types of composition: one placing the character standee beside me to enrich the frame, and the other a clean version with the subject centered, focusing on showcasing body lines and costume textures. Because shooting the clean version could better highlight the details of the legs and White stockings, I specifically adjusted my sitting posture, pointing my toes slightly to make my legs appear more slender. Post-processing for this set mainly involved skin retouching and color grading, striving to maintain translucency without overly intense colors. As a cosplayer, preparing for every character takes a lot of effort. For makeup, pink eyeshadow blending was paired with pink colored contacts to make the gaze softer. The green cut-out ornament on the dress was custom-made separately, and the buckle straps were adjusted repeatedly to sit properly on the chest. After putting on the whole outfit, I repeatedly practiced my expression in the mirror to look wise yet serene. The collaborating photographer was also very experienced, guiding me to drop my shoulders and relax my neck, resulting in more natural poses. The post-production process couldn't be sloppy; for shots with solid backgrounds, preserving skirt creases and balancing skin smoothing required careful measure—too much smoothing looks fake, while none looks too rough. Highlighting was also applied to the material of the White stockings to enhance texture. The lighting setup was also adjusted during the shoot; to highlight the edges of the white tulle, a rim light was added from the rear side, creating a subtle glow along the hair edges. Shooting against a white background heavily tests lighting uniformity, requiring precise adjustments of light distance. Notably, Nahida's green is not a simple grass green but has a hint of mint tone, so the colors of the outfit and wig were finalized after multiple sample rounds. When posing, I usually take a deep breath and exhale slowly to naturally relax my shoulders. For the gaze, I aimed for clarity with a touch of gentleness, which, paired with the rabbit-ear shape, made the character look lively. Choosing a white round stool as a seat was mainly because its height was just right, allowing me to naturally cross my legs without stiffness. Next to the second clean shot is a gray tray, which was almost like a prop accidentally left near the stage, but it added a touch of compositional interest to the frame. In fact, I originally wanted to try more poses, but considering the fluffiness of the skirt and the stability of the sitting posture, this pose turned out to be the most effective in expressing the character's temperament. The first photo with the standee placed the standee and character in the same spot during shooting and composited them in post-production; this presentation was very interesting, giving the sensation of a character stepping out of a painting. In contrast, shooting on a solid-color background emphasizes the model's own aura and the garment lines. The initial intention of this cosplay was to record my understanding of the character; from preparing props to final shots, seeing the finished results was very rewarding, and these works express my recent thoughts and accumulated experience regarding cosplay. There aren't many special techniques left to explain; this photo set is an attempt at the most faithful recreation of Nahida.
