The Convention photos from Chengdu CD30 are finally retouched and ready, featuring Remilia Scarlet once again. This outfit embodies classic Gothic Lolita fashion in a red-and-white palette adorned with generous lace and ruffles; wearing it was honestly quite hot, and it easily picked up dust in the busy hall. The headpiece is an oversized white lace mob cap requiring numerous bobby pins to stay firmly anchored to the wig. Combined with blunt blue bangs and crimson contact lenses, the makeup highlighted red eyeshadow to evoke that otherworldly vampire aura. To match the ensemble, I prepped long red nails, wore White stockings with lace garter rings, and donned red platform shoes that—despite the high heels—were surprisingly stable to walk in. The black bat wings on my back were crafted from lightweight materials with purplish-red gradients; however, due to their wide wingspan, turning around in crowded aisles easily risked bumping passersby, demanding constant vigilance.
For props, I brought along a white skull replica and an oversized feather parasol. The skull was a hollow plastic prop, very light in hand, though balancing it required care to keep it from slipping. The feather parasol was remarkably high-maintenance—prone to shedding feathers and tiring my arms after prolonged posing—yet to capture that regal grandeur, I persevered through multiple dynamic poses holding it aloft and unfurled. Before heading out, the wig bangs were meticulously trimmed to ensure clear vision, sprayed down with styling mist to withstand the outdoor humidity. Inside the hall, we scouted spots beneath bright overhead lights where circular background bokeh added aesthetic flair. For full-body shots, laying out a white plush rug framed the tiered skirt layers and elongated leg lines while protecting the soles of my shoes.
The convention was packed with passionate crowds. Shoots flowed efficiently with seamless coordination, swiftly resetting poses, skirt drapery, and wing angles. Because this outfit has abundant layers, the waist lacing and the chest rose brooch shifted easily while walking, requiring quick readjustments before each take. The convention heat combined with heavy accessories posed a physical endurance challenge, demanding far more frequent makeup touch-ups than usual. Yet running into countless fellow Touhou Project fans and exchanging warm greetings across the hall made it deeply endearing. Cosplaying this look was undeniably exhausting between endless accessories and continuous wig brushing, but seeing the final frames made every bit of hard work worthwhile. The overall chromatic contrast was vivid: the primary red, white, and black palette accented by blue hair stood out sharply under the venue's intricate lighting.
Selecting the final shots was a tough dilemma, but the selected frames capture both intricate costume nuances and overall atmosphere. Because convention backgrounds can be visually busy, we prioritized wide-aperture compositions that blurred out ambient clutter, locking visual focus on facial expressions and garment textures. I definitely hope to explore more Touhou Project characters in the future, as this opulent aesthetic is truly captivating. From styling to post-processing, this set was slowly polished to perfection, aiming to bring out the noble yet dangerously enchanting essence of the character.
