Putting on this Wishadel patent leather gear, the sweltering summer heat was by far the greatest test. Patent leather is completely non-breathable; once the long gloves and over-the-knee boots were on, I felt wrapped inside a stifling balloon, with mobility restricted to the point where even bending over to adjust my thigh rings required utmost caution. Yet that was also the most fascinating aspect of the shoot—under intense red and purple light, the reflective sheen across the patent leather surface was stunning, perfectly contouring the body's lines. To capture an authentic reflective texture, photographer @Xiaohei's Shutter Speed and I repeatedly tweaked lighting angles within this abandoned iron railing setting. The dual red-and-purple neon lighting cast across the patent leather, particularly in shadow areas, produced a stern, metallic finish that deeply aligned with my interpretation of the outfit.
Maintaining that provocative, dangerous gaze during the shoot was truly exhausting. Wearing these special colored contacts for hours dried out my eyes quickly, and holding such a cold expression demanded deliberate facial muscle control. The most time-consuming aspect was leg posing—not only did they need to appear elongated, but they also had to align with the lines of the metal bars behind me. At times, keeping one leg suspended in mid-air for extended takes left my thigh muscles thoroughly sore. The wig was custom-made; its silver-white gradient reflected subtle violet undertones under red lighting, harmonizing impeccably with the attire. The props consisted of a soft whip and a dagger; when gripping them, wrist guard placement needed careful attention to keep the silhouette clean. To prevent sweat from tarnishing the glossy finish, we diligently used blotting paper on exposed skin during breaks.
What satisfied me most about this shoot was the full-body composition, utilizing heavy vignetting and red-purple rim lighting to concentrate all visual focus onto the patent leather textures and the over-the-knee boots paired with spliced Patent leather stockings. Exhausting as the process was, glancing at that crisp specular sheen on the camera monitor made every drop of sweat feel worthwhile. With every shutter press, we meticulously verified whether the highlight streaks were flawless and whether the posture looked razor-sharp. The character fidelity of this costume is remarkably high, the shoot atmosphere was dialed to the maximum, and the overall hardcore Dark style was executed to perfection.
