[Venti cosplay] Freedom in the Wind: Protecting the Journey with Arrows

The convention photos taken at this New Furong Comic Con are finally ready to be posted! First, I want to give a big thanks to photographer Pulao 411 for capturing so many highlight moments for me on-site. To be honest, the crowd at the convention that day was massive, and the lighting in the venue was quite complex. Being able to shoot photos with clear subjects and clean backgrounds in such an environment really shows how credited the photographer's composition and lighting setup were.

Regarding the costume and styling this time, the core actually lies in the details of the props and hairstyle. Although this bow looks like a large piece, I specifically selected lightweight materials to make it, making it as effortless as possible to hold at the convention venue while balancing fidelity to the original look. The blue-purple wig received detailed gradient treatment, and combining the highlights on top with the teal braided pigtails on both sides created layers and texture that I am very satisfied with. To fit the character's temperament, I paired it with teal contact lenses, hoping my gaze would convey that free-spirited feeling.

For the outfit design this time, the waist-revealing cut was kept, paired with gold breastplate armor and cyan insignia, as well as a white short cape and long sleeves. Patterned tattoos were specifically applied to the legs, matched with white thigh-high socks and transparent chunky-heeled sandals, making the overall look visually light and slender. In the photos, it might look easy seeing me stand on one leg or pose drawing a bow, but maintaining balance while keeping the hair and ribbons flowing naturally and handling the bow posture is actually quite a test of core strength.

At the venue, top light directly overhead easily creates harsh shadows on the face, so the photographer used a speedlight with a softbox for fill light. This light source beautifully captured skin tone, metal reflections on the costume, and the tattoo patterns on the thigh. Combined with the dim, complex background at the event, it formed a strong light-and-dark contrast, perfectly focusing the visual center on the character. The biggest difference between convention photos and studio shoots for anime-style photography is feeling that bustling live atmosphere—even if the background is cluttered, it actually makes the photos feel more vivid and authentic.

Speaking of prop handling, since the bow has many wing-shaped components, I paid special attention to my finger placement when holding it to avoid unnatural clipping or blocking my face. Paired with two long white and blue ribbons, I needed to capture motion without letting them fly wildly and obstruct the view, so I adopted more static standing and kneeling poses in these photos, transforming airy lightness into a draped sense of strength.

Preparing to cosplay this character always takes a lot of care, whether polishing props, styling the wig, or adjusting my state on site. Being able to meet fellow fans who love this character at the convention and recording these moments through photos is a fun and meaningful experience in itself, beyond just casual cosplay. I'm very satisfied with the results of this photoset, and I hope to convey this wind-blown sense of freedom to everyone.
