[Noshiro Cosplay] Azur Lane Qipao Styling: A Unique Interpretation in an Ancient Setting

For this shoot, I selected Noshiro's Qipao design, primarily aiming to integrate the 2D anime character from the game into a real-life Chinese classical setting. Compared to her usual naval ship attire, this light blue Qipao appears much more gentle and graceful. Prior to the shoot, I adjusted the wardrobe, styling, and makeup multiple times to align closely with the character's temperament.

First are the costume and wig details. The light blue Qipao features a modified cut with a halter-neck style and white embroidery across the chest, creating a very refreshing palette. The headwear boasts high fidelity: the double-bun hairstyle paired with gold tassel hairpieces, forehead ornaments, and red-to-white gradient horns on both sides immediately establishes character recognition. For makeup, the base was kept clean and translucent, with reddish tones blended into the eye makeup to echo the hair accessories, while light-colored contact lenses made the gaze more expressive. To enrich the silhouette, a thick white plush shawl was added around the sleeves, enhancing the visual volume while balancing the otherwise lightweight summer garment.

Interactive props were highly prioritized during this shoot: the folding fan, a black ceramic wine jug marked with the "Wine" character, and a white plush rabbit doll were essential for building the atmosphere. For the set dressing, a deep red wooden couch was draped with a white plush mat, set against an expansive background of red plum blossom branches and Chinese calligraphy scrolls. This environment formed an exquisite visual contrast with the blue-and-white outfit, offering striking yet harmonious color balance. The lighting used studio softboxes to produce a bright, gentle illumination that emphasized the embroidery patterns and stocking textures. The light Blue stockings, accented with deep blue straps at the thigh and paired with the short Qipao hem, beautifully contoured the leg lines in seated poses and served as an eye-catching focal point.

To showcase different nuances during the shoot, I transitioned through several poses. The first photo, holding the folding fan, presents a poised, upright composition; the second photo, picking up the wine jug with a relaxed sitting posture, leans into an everyday, effortless ease; the third photo features a sideways glance-back, where the plush props and skirt hem create rich layering. Rather than striking exaggerated poses, sitting calmly on the wooden couch better conveyed the original design intent of this outfit—graceful tranquility touched with lively charm.

Wearing a Qipao places high demands on posture. To achieve the best results, I engaged my core, adjusted my sitting stance, and kept my back upright before shooting. The halter-neck cut also required attention to shoulder and neck presentation. Unlike standard ship-gear cosplays, this Eastern-inspired Qipao styling tested my expression and demeanor, demanding a serene composure reflected through the eyes. I particularly appreciated the photographer's wide-aperture background blur, which made the subject stand out while preserving the vibrant red of the plum blossoms behind me, evoking the feeling of a maiden stepping out of a classical painting.

Noshiro's Qipao in the game has a distinctive design. Although fabric textures and accessory placements needed real-life adjustments, the final presentation was deeply satisfying. The blend of 2D anime flair with traditional Chinese elements felt natural, showcasing a seamless fusion across dimensions. Through this photo series, I hope to convey the beauty of combining ancient styles with Anime cosplay. Reviewing the final photos after wrapping up, the crisp clarity of the blue-and-white palette was truly eye-opening, making this a deeply rewarding Noshiro cosplay endeavor.
