[Nico cosplay] The most reliable manager in Zenless Zone Zero, buffing you all today as well

The moment I walked into the lens geared up in this outfit, the first line that popped into my head was that quote from the post. As Nico in Zenless Zone Zero, her daily state is saying "I'll buff you up" while calculating how to rake in more Dennies in her head. For this shoot, I specifically selected several sets of actions that reflect her personality. The high-kick pose in the photo was actually a spontaneous idea, because the strap design of this Over-the-knee socks cosplay is very unique—the combination of cutouts and belt buckles gives the leg lines richer layering, and combined with the weight of the platform Martin boots, the visual center of gravity of the entire lower body is very solid. During shooting, I had to repeatedly adjust my center of gravity because standing on one leg against the wire mesh fence while keeping the other leg straight required quite a bit of core strength. However, I was very satisfied with the result; that casual yet slightly provocative feel perfectly matches Nico's character setting.

In terms of clothing, this white cropped midriff-baring top paired with black shorts features double belt buckles at the waist as the finishing touch. In particular, that yellow-green plush doll hanging on the hip is actually the most cumbersome yet most recognizable accessory of the entire styling; during shooting, it always swung around during large movements, so I had to hold it down with my hand to keep it from flailing. The outerwear is a half-draped black leather jacket with metallic-textured trims on the cuffs and collar; I deliberately pulled one sleeve down to expose the white inner sleeve, an asymmetrical design that looks exceptionally photogenic on camera. The hairstyle is long straight pink hair, where the two black bow straps on top of the head create dynamic effects when turning around, and the black clips on the forehead keep the bangs in place to prevent covering my eyes.

Shooting the outdoor scene for this look was actually quite challenging. The location of the wire mesh fence in Photo 1 was in an arcade-style street district, where the neon brick wall and suspended digital cubes behind created a cyberpunk vibe in this Street style cosplay. The lighting was relatively complex, featuring both overhead cool blue light and warm side fill light. The photographer asked me to kick my leg to the highest point while casting my gaze downward toward the lens; I had to maintain bodily balance while controlling my expression so as not to look strained. Photo 2 was taken in front of a real bookshelf, where the lettering on the book spines carried a mixed flavor of Japanese manga and Chinese webcomics. I leaned against it with arms spread and shoulders slightly lowered, creating a lazy vibe of "I can't be bothered to move, figure it out yourselves." Photos 3 and 4 transitioned back to studio shooting, using a solid-color gradient background to highlight the character completely, allowing for a clearer view of the costume tailoring and plush doll details. Especially in the seated shot, while making a V-sign with my fingers, I deliberately bent my legs at an angle to make the snug fit of the straps and over-the-knee socks more distinct.

During a shooting break, I looked down at the fabric of this costume. It is actually not particularly lightweight: the black jacket and inner top both carry noticeable thickness, and combined with the boots and plush doll, the total weight is around four to five pounds. Yet before the camera, you absolutely cannot let anyone see you carrying such weight; you must act out Nico's effortless composure—feigning that everything is completely under control even if she's about to make a run for it the very next second. I tried swinging my hair at different angles several times, and Photo 4 happened to capture the moment of hair flying, which, paired with open arms, looked just like finishing an energy-boosting buff in Game character cosplay.

In fact, every time I cosplay a character with props and intricate straps, what takes the most time is adjusting the fit and positioning. That black strap ring on the thigh needs to be adjusted to the right height so it doesn't squeeze into the flesh, while ensuring it doesn't shift when squatting or sitting. If the cutouts on the Over-the-knee socks cosplay aren't aligned, the legs look visually severed; I spent a long time comparing in front of the mirror to get the angle right. Then there's that plush doll—it's actually secured by a belt clip, so every time I made a large turn, I had to be careful it wouldn't smack against my knees.

To sum up, for this photoshoot I experimented with both high-dynamic and static styles, both perfectly fitting Nico's character traits of looking slack on the outside yet shrewd and cunning at heart. Although the line claims "I'll buff you up", I feel it was actually this outfit and props that buffed my expressiveness, allowing me to craft every single moment belonging to this character more effortlessly. Whether you pulled Anby 0 or just entered the Hollows for the first time, I hope this photo set lets you experience the street arcade atmosphere of Zenless Zone Zero.
