[Von Lycaon cosplay] Tactical Vanguard of Zenless Zone Zero: Victoria Housekeeping Full Squad Assemble

Thank you for choosing Victoria Housekeeping—the Master's wish is our mission. Cosplaying this set of Victoria Housekeeping photos from Zenless Zone Zero with my partners finally brought the concept of 'tactical maid cosplay' in our minds into reality. There were four of us in total, corresponding to Von Lycaon, Rina, Corin, and Ellen Joe cosplay, shaping a multi-dimensional team presence within the same faction through our distinct weapons and postures.

Costumes and styling established the foundational tone for this shoot. Under a monochrome black-and-white theme, the maid dresses combined with tactical straps, metal armor, and stockings cosplay (black and white tights) created a finely balanced visual. What I loved most was the snug fit of the thigh straps and over-the-knee socks paired with thick-soled tactical boots, instantly transforming the traditional maid's 'fragility' into combat-ready sharpness. We also styled the wigs with great care—shades like mint green and silver-white showed wonderful translucency under studio lighting without harsh plastic sheen, which is crucial for faithful cosplay.

This shoot featured not only interactions between three of us, but also numerous solo close-ups and group compositions. We divided the shoot into three main scenes: the first was an industrial server room filled with metallic pipes and server racks, where we sat on a black leather sofa with a relaxed vibe, as if taking a breather between missions; the second was a banquet scene centered around a red rose dining table, which tested prop arrangement the most—using glass goblets, apples, and European-style chairs to contrast the cold, hard mechanical weapons with a touch of daily life; the third was a cathedral staircase scene with white marble sculptures and candles, where stepping onto the steps made each character's aura intensely sharp.

Transporting and adjusting props during the shoot was genuinely exhausting. For instance, the circular saw with a green mechanical arm and the long-handled scythe—although lightened as much as possible during fabrication—still placed high demands on shoulder endurance when holding them for poses. We also utilized ladders and reflectors to optimize angles; otherwise, it would have been hard to fully showcase the weapons' visual strengths in terms of perspective and framing.

The prep work before shooting tested our patience the most: assembling the skirts and armor pieces together to ensure that accessories wouldn't detach even during dynamic movements. In this set, we deliberately retained subtle skin-baring cuts and strap designs, which, combined with the material sheen of the stockings cosplay under macro lenses, delivered exceptional visual tension.

Our photographer @碳水黑洞裂空桑 was exceptionally experienced with pacing. Many candid shots we originally thought were outtakes turned out cinematic after color grading. He was especially adept at using foreground blur to add depth of field; for example, the blurred edge of a wine glass in the photo served as a natural framing device, smoothly directing focus toward the characters deep in the background without feeling forced.

Capturing character temperament was also a key focus we deliberated during preparation. Although Victoria Housekeeping's setting is elegant, they are decisive and swift during missions. Therefore, we avoided overly sweet or exaggerated smiles in our facial expressions, focusing instead on expressions of concentration, confidence, and a touch of coolness. This created a compelling contrast with the extensive ruffles and bows. The intricate lace detailing on cuffs and collars could only be noticed up close; though tricky to capture on camera, elevated textures are what truly complete the character portrayal.

For me, this experience was largely about enjoying team collaboration. Gearing up alongside friends, helping each other adjust collars and harness straps, and waiting for lighting setups in chilly vacant rooms—these are the heartwarming memories unique to offline cosplay. I prefer interactive posing over isolated, static modeling because interaction allows the story within the photos to breathe and continue.

From initial planning to the final retouches, the entire process was quite painstaking, but seeing the interplay of vibrant crimson and cool grays in the final shots made every bit of effort worthwhile. As cosplayers, we hope to convey that nuanced blend of 'everyday and extraordinary' in Zenless Zone Zero's New Eridu through the eyes of these characters to everyone who loves this work—whether it's Rina's elegance or Ellen Joe's effortless composure, each is an indispensable part of this faction.
