[Ushigome Rimi cosplay] BanG Dream! Sailor Suit Photoshoot Log in a Winter Snow Setting

Today, I finally wrapped up this studio shoot of Ushigome Rimi in her Sailor suit. I had actually worn this outfit once before at an anime convention, but the venue was far too noisy and crowded for a proper shoot, so I specifically booked a studio this time for a dedicated indoor session to preserve this classic school uniform look.

Trimming the wig took quite a bit of work to achieve that dense, full feel with blunt bangs and inward-curled ends. The deep navy shade leans into a subtle blue-black under warm studio lights; pairing it with red contact lenses and soft red-toned makeup, checking the details in the mirror made me feel everything had truly clicked into place. To ensure the wig stayed free of flyaways, I smoothed it down with a flat iron before heading out. The base makeup prioritized seamless concealing to maintain a clean, radiant finish. Eye makeup wasn't heavy, mainly focusing on deepening eye contours to match the red lenses, slightly extending the outer corners to give my gaze a softer, gentler touch.

The wardrobe details hold up wonderfully to close inspection. The mustard-yellow one-piece dress is accented with a crisp white sailor collar and dark pinstripes. The large red ribbon bow at the chest is the true soul of the outfit, and I took extra care to tie it into a plump, dimensional shape. White piping and golden buttons along the waistline add crisp layering, and the white stripes across the sleeves are neat and symmetrical. To style this ensemble, I wore knee-high Black stockings paired with glossy, chunky block-heeled leather shoes, balancing the overall proportions nicely. When wearing this Sailor suit, the tailored waist fit is essential; I had to adjust it several times so the pleats would fan out into a clean, flattering flare.

The studio was decorated with artificial snow, Christmas trees, and an oversized plush dog that felt delightfully soft to the touch. During shooting, the photographer had me lean against the plush dog or pose beside the snow-dusted trees. The seated shot with legs stretched out on the floor was designed to showcase the leg contours and Black stockings, creating an organic, unforced pose. Even though the studio floor felt quite chilly, finding a relaxed seated posture meant spending time dialing in my center of gravity. For the standing shots, I gently pinched the red ribbon at my chest, which kept my hands from looking stiff while drawing focus to the front design.

Rimi possesses an innately sweet, introverted, and gentle charm. In terms of facial expressions, I consciously minimized broad, exaggerated smiles, leaning instead into subtle micro-expressions and soft gazes to convey quiet gentleness. Whenever I shoot outdoors or in-studio, I dedicate ample time to steaming garments and styling wigs, because getting these foundational details right is what elevates the final output. The catchlight in the eyes was equally crucial: red lenses can look stark if the light hits them at an awkward angle, so working with the softbox brightness allowed us to gently guide out the ideal look.

The lighting for today's shoot was soft and diffused, rendering skin tones smooth and even. Sometimes I reflect on how cosplaying isn't just about putting on a costume and copying an appearance—it's about embodying the character's internal state. Rimi is introverted yet harbors a deeply rich inner world. Standing amidst snowscapes and cuddly plushies, there's no need for theatrical, dramatic poses; simply standing or sitting quietly speaks volumes. Pacing my breath and relaxing my shoulders within a tranquil space allowed that quiet serenity to flow naturally.

Communication with the photographer was effortless. We explored diverse framing angles on set, constantly adjusting our perspective to weave the subject into the plush winter wonderland. Completing this Snow portrait set gave me a renewed appreciation for this styling. I hope the final cuts let everyone feel this serene ambiance. There are always tiny points for improvement—such as refining lighting angles even further—which I'll polish next time. Overall, it was a thoroughly satisfying collaboration.
