[Gongsun Li Cosplay & Pei cosplay] Honor of Kings Pei Qinhu × Gongsun Li Pair: Classical Garden Shoot of My Signature Heroes

Preparing this Honor of Kings Pei Qinhu × Gongsun Li cosplay photoshoot involved extensive pre-production. For my character, Gongsun Li, the long straight peach-orange wig required meticulous layering—especially the fringe to contour the face naturally—while the custom gradient white-and-pink rabbit ears demanded delicate anchoring to prevent tilting. Makeup accentuated eye contours using peachy-pink eyeshadow to echo the overall palette. My partner's Pei cosplay styling was equally sharp: a textured orange-red wig paired with hand-painted facial marks and a traditional frog-button jacket cleanly captured the martial artist persona.

Shooting under blinding mid-afternoon sun posed technical hurdles for the photographer, but delivered exceptionally luminous light and shadow. We chose a classical Chinese garden where crimson walls, verdant trees, and grey bricks harmonized with our red color schemes. The first frame captured a classic chin-cradling pose; though initially shy, my partner leaned into character seamlessly, cupping my chin with a white-bandaged glove to instantly lock in the mood. The second shot featured standing with a parasol—a custom pink oil-paper parasol whose handle tassels drifted in the breeze for dynamic flow. My outfit featured a waist cutout paired with distressed black trousers, a look that elongated leg lines while creating a sweet-yet-edgy contrast. To accentuate body proportions and leg length, the photographer used a low-angle upward perspective to emphasize poise.

The third shot was set beside a pond under gorgeous rim lighting, casting golden halos across our hair. As I gently lowered my gaze and let the wind ruffle my locks, my partner crouched beside me, yielding natural emotional intimacy. The frame brimmed with optical bokeh, which I deliberately preserved during retouching to enhance the dreamlike mood. The fourth shot was staged on a wooden bench: reclining along the ground with my head resting against his knees was physically tiring, but delivered intense emotional resonance and bond. With him seated on the bench in chunky black boots and me resting beside him, the visual tension was striking.

I handled the post-processing for my character, focusing on skin texture and fabric fidelity. Because of the bright exposure on location, I pulled back highlights and lifted shadows to recover the rich red gradations of the tops and the sheen on the black trousers. For Pei, retouching prioritized angular facial definition while avoiding over-softening to preserve his rugged demeanor.

In this styling, my ripped trousers and sneakers introduced athletic flair, creating a chic hybrid with the traditional bodice that honored the character's canon design logic. The entire shoot took roughly three hours of continuous posture adjustments to ensure balanced framing and centered compositions. Ultimately, this Pei Qinhu × Gongsun Li photoshoot was deeply satisfying, capturing the soul of our heroes while marrying the majesty of traditional Chinese architecture with dynamic character vitality.
