Today, let's talk about this set of Convention photos. This outfit primarily revolves around black and cyan as its dominant color palette, leaning toward a fusion of techwear and anime aesthetics. To match the overarching atmosphere, I intentionally layered the wig and trimmed the straight bangs slightly flatter to hug my facial contours better. The focal point of the makeup was placed entirely on the eyes: bright cyan contact lenses paired with dense eyelashes and elongated eyeliner delivered a remarkably pronounced eye-enlarging effect. Blush was swept generously across the apples of the cheeks and the tip of the nose to add a touch of soft, fuzzy cuteness, while the base makeup was kept relatively clear and translucent to withstand the convention lighting.
For the costume, I wore a black short-sleeved shirt accented with cyan trim along the collar and edges, complemented by metallic buttons down the front. The cyan tie at the collar was tied firmly, creating a sharp visual impact against the black fabric. The cyan silk gloves on my hands were the crowning touch; though lightweight, they not only flattered the lines of the hands but also added a dash of refined elegance during poses. In the third photo, I added headphones and strapped on a waist pouch; though the straps were a bit tight around my waist, they instantly brought out a capable, polished look.
Working the convention floor last week, the thickness of this outfit was honestly quite a test of stamina inside the venue. Even so, maintaining composure in front of the camera was essential. The first two close-up photos were taken casually indoors: I experimented with resting my chin on one hand and cupping my cheeks with both fists. When resting your chin, keep the hand slightly relaxed with fingertips naturally grazing the edge of the cheek, gazing straight into the lens without overthinking, so the expression appears natural. When cupping your cheeks with clenched fists, pouting slightly creates a soft, adorable gap moe emphasized by the subtle folds of the gloves.
The third convention shot was taken against a backdrop curtain. For this setup, zooming out the composition slightly allows the details of the upper body and waist to fit into the frame. I flashed a peace sign near the top of my head with one hand and put the other on my hip, angling my body slightly so my shoulders looked narrower and my overall proportions appeared better balanced. The convention had huge foot traffic, and lighting in front of booths is often chaotic; finding relatively even flat light or soft side light and slightly pulling down shadows in post-processing dramatically elevates the photo's texture.
Whether shooting on location or roaming conventions, you often have to balance styling and physical endurance. While this outfit looks fantastic, the wig needed constant brushing, and the gloves made holding a phone awkward, requiring plenty of time mid-shoot for touch-ups and adjusting accessories. Still, seeing that crisp, vibrant Anime girl atmosphere in the final images made every bit of effort worthwhile. If anyone spots an outfit they like at conventions, feel free to come over for a shared selfie—I'm always happy to strike a pose.
