This Komeiji Koishi cosplay costume had actually been prepared for quite a while, and today I finally scheduled an Outdoor cosplay shoot with photographer @Dantaphotograph in wonderful weather. Although the post caption says "A person thinking about nothing at all," during the actual shoot my brain was constantly running at full speed—not only maintaining challenging postures, but also being vigilant that the wig wouldn't get snagged on nearby branches.
The focus of the hair and makeup this time was on faithful recreation of the original design and rich texture rendering. To match the character's signature mint-green hair, the wig featured layered gradient dyeing, reflecting a very soft sheen under dappled natural sunlight. The small black top hat was adorned with pale yellow fabric roses and tied with black netting, seamlessly bridging the overall color palette. The sleeves of the top utilized voluminous lantern-sleeve designs, with semi-sheer white fabric covered in cascading black lace frills, while the collar and bust ornaments were accented with blue fabric flowers and purple ribbons, providing abundant layered depth in this Cosplay outfit.
The dark green skirt of the lower half showed off a rich, substantial texture under the sun, detailed with crisp horizontal stripes and lace trimming. Combined with black lace stockings in a Black tights Lolita aesthetic and bow-accented flat Mary Jane shoes, the vintage charm was elevated to the maximum. In outdoor shoots with heavily layered garments, the greatest challenge is always the weather and lighting. In the dappled woodland that afternoon, utilizing natural rays to form gorgeous Tyndall effects while avoiding odd harsh light spots on the face required constant adjustments to my position and angles.
The shooting location was a park with wrought-iron sculptures, whose curved lines visually echoed the voluminous flare of the dress skirt. To capture an effortless, ethereal feel, I deliberately chose a seated pose with one hand lightly touching my hat brim and the other resting on the structure behind me. Balancing on an uneven stone pedestal while wearing heels and maintaining core stability was certainly a test of strength. But seeing the relaxed, effortless demeanor in the final photos made all the tension feel completely worthwhile.
Regarding the "thinking of nothing" state of mind, when posing, I consciously emptied my gaze and physical expression—not forcing an overly energetic enthusiasm, but crafting her distinct languid aura of mystique. The upward angle in that first close-up completely displays the costume's craftsmanship, while the raised-arm gesture elongates the upper-body lines, which, paired with a slightly dazed gaze, beautifully captures the character's detached, carefree nature.
Wearing this outfit took considerable time, especially smoothing the oversized sleeves and securing the delicate chest accessories. Fortunately, the breathable fabric kept the warm day from feeling stuffy. During shooting, the photographer suggested taking tight close-ups alongside wide environmental shots. I personally adore the first close-up the most, as the flowers on the hat, collar details, and textures of the black stockings and shoes are fully displayed up close—this exquisite craftsmanship is the true magic of cosplay. After wrapping up, we tidied the skirt and wig on the lawn before calling it a day. As an avid cosplayer, every shoot feels like a fresh reinterpretation of the character and myself. This styling perfectly matches the unique, enchanting worldview of Touhou Project in my heart.
