Today, this set of photos for Zenless Zone Zero's Sunna has finally been completely released. The focus of this shoot was actually placed on trying out the background and lighting. It was my first time using RGB lights to fill the background, and I was a bit uncertain at first, fearing the lighting might be uneven or the colors would look messy. But the moment I saw the final photos, it felt like a huge success.
The overall vibe of the character Sunna is quite unique. To match this theme, I decided to use the concept of a matcha cake for visual extension. Since the character herself has mint-green elements, I simply split the background into mint green and strawberry pink. Against the mint-colored backdrop, the overall feel is clean and translucent; switching to the strawberry-pink background reveals an entirely different sweet style. I love both colors immensely.
A lot of thought was also put into the details of the clothing and props this time. The black-and-white maid outfit features numerous layers of ruffles, combined with a red tie and a small badge, creating a rich sense of layering. The cat-ear headband and mint-green wig on my head are the soul of the look, intentionally styled with slight waves to look more natural. That red square backpack with white wings and the number "3/4" printed on it is actually quite heavy. To present a sense of effortlessly lifting it in front of the camera, I had to adjust my center of gravity several positions.
That red-and-white megaphone prop is also a highlight; holding it to pose like shooting or shouting instantly gives off a combat maid vibe. To make the picture more vivid, I also designed a pose of taking a selfie with a phone, making it feel like recording everyday life rather than rigid posing.
The lower body styling is also a key point. White pantyhose paired with slouch socks and black platform shoes not only elongated the leg lines but also made the overall styling more grounded. When shooting sitting poses, the angles were intentionally adjusted to allow the white stockings to present a better texture and outline under the lights, and the platform shoes supported the dress's silhouette wonderfully.
From a professional shooting perspective, the color reproduction of RGB lights really tests the matching of the main light. Under the mint-green background, the main light is slightly cooler, making the skin tone look more translucent; while for the strawberry-pink background, the main light needs to be moderately softened to avoid a reddish skin tone. Prop reflections also need to be controlled—for instance, the red backpack is prone to overexposure under strong light, requiring careful angle adjustments. This was a great practice in color application, and in future shoots of different styles, I will be able to manage lighting much more comfortably.
