[Chisa Cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Detailed Presentation of Sailor Collar and Pleated Skirt

This look primarily uses a mix of gray, black, and white with a touch of red accents in its styling, offering great visual depth. The top is a dark sailor collar short-sleeve shirt, with the thickness of the white stripes on the collar and the cutting of the edges kept as close to the character's original setting as possible. For the tie part, a red ribbon tie with fine twill patterns was chosen; this color pops out vividly against the overall dark-toned clothing, becoming the visual center of the entire body.

Regarding the wig part, a long straight black wig was selected this time, featuring ample volume and a natural drape without looking overly heavy. The red ribbon used on one side is the key to the styling; it not only echoes the color of the tie but also enriches the overall silhouette. With this length during movements, the hair ends float naturally, adding a dynamic beauty.

The outerwear is a dark gray long trench coat. In photo one, I tried a look holding the coat with one arm, which clearly displays the layers of the inner outfit. Photo two showcases wearing the coat with the belt fastened; by cinching with the black waist belt, it raises the waistline, making the pleats of the skirt look more dimensional. The sleeves of the trench coat feature a loose, open-cuff design, increasing the clothing's casualness and comfort.

The lower body features a black pleated skirt, with a relatively neat cut on the hem and slightly wider pleat spacing. Paired with black over-the-knee socks, it beautifully flatters the leg lines. Visually, the absolute skin-tone distance preserved between the over-the-knee socks and the pleated skirt is a crucial negative space in this type of academy-style JK uniform, which elongates proportions without looking dull.

For the feet, a pair of platform brown loafers was chosen, a style that is highly classic in daily outfits. The platform design not only visually increases height but also grants the overall styling a greater sense of stability. The combination of brown and black is both stable and far from looking dated, perfectly balancing the colors of the entire body.

The shooting environment was actually very simple, right in the bedroom at home. The light-colored chest of drawers nearby features simple drawer handles, the wall has wallpaper with retro acanthus patterns, and on the right side are semi-transparent curtains with floral prints. Such a lived-in background doesn't feel out of place when matched with this rather daily and academy-style look, but instead adds a sense of warmth and familiarity.

My shooting method was taking a mirror selfie using my phone facing a full-length mirror. The benefit of this method is the ability to adjust my state at any time—such as adjusting the tie's position, smoothing the wrinkles of the skirt hem, or checking if the over-the-knee socks are pulled up properly. The angle of the mirror selfie also needs to be mastered well; typically, one needs to hold the phone slightly lower or subtly adjust the body's center of gravity to capture a natural, non-rigid full-body shot.

In the process of cosplay, besides external restoration, one also needs to experience the character's state when wearing these clothes. Overall, this outfit is made of a relatively crisp fabric that does not wrinkle easily. Especially the sense of restraint from the belt and the ribbon tie makes one involuntarily straighten up their posture, which is perhaps a way of getting into character from vision to behavior.

Comparing photo one and photo two, photo one appears lighter and sharper because the coat is taken off, while the effect in photo two with the coat on is more complete and richer in layers. The shift between these two states is actually a very interesting part of the cosplay process, allowing one to choose which side to present based on different scenes and atmospheres.

When preparing for this kind of roleplay normally, styling and coordination are often the components where the most time and energy are invested. The wig must be combed smooth, the ribbon tie must be tied well, and the tightness of the socks must be just right. Although the process can be somewhat tedious, the moment all accessories are put on and I stand in front of the mirror, a grounded sense of satisfaction rises in my heart.

Sometimes, a simple indoor mirror selfie can capture the most authentic texture instead. Without complex lighting setups and heavy editing, relying solely on the light and the charm of the costume itself is enough to convey the characteristics of the character's look. Of course, besides the costume itself, the overall posture and atmosphere are also vital, and one should try to present a natural and elegant side as much as possible.

This set of photos does not use overly exaggerated poses, mainly adding vividness to the frame through some small hand gestures, such as gently holding the skirt hem or touching the edge of the coat. This kind of daily outfit style might be easier to resonate with everyone, leaving no sense of distance.

When organizing the photos this time, I carefully considered the trade-offs in composition. Whether displaying the full-body proportions or highlighting specific local details, I hope the final presented effect does justice to the production details of this costume. Although the shooting process is simple, the pre-shoot preparation and styling are the true foundation that determines the final output.

Overall, this was a very comfortable shooting experience. This look not only avoids looking overly out of place in daily scenes but instead carries a rich academic aura. I feel that this kind of styling attempt, which balances daily practicality on top of character restoration, is also where one of the fun aspects of cosplay culture lies.
