Sharing the final photos of my Wuthering Waves cosplay for Hiyuki! This time, I specially prepared two outfits with completely different vibes to embody different sides of the character.
In terms of makeup conception, I used slightly reddish-orange colored contacts to fit the character's temperament from the original game. Paired with a silver-white wig and ultra-fine wispy bangs, I strived to capture that cool and resolute look in my facial expressions. This blue, white, and purple color-schemed costume utilizes soft, flowing materials. The off-the-shoulder and strap designs heavily test one's body shape and posture. Paired with that white broad-bladed greatsword, it creates an overall quiet, ethereal, and dreamy atmosphere. The blue and purple lighting inside the studio echoes beautifully with the wooden lattice screens and purplish-pink flowers in the background, making the final photos look clean and soft.
On the other hand, the second high-contrast red, white, and black outfit brings an entirely different aura. The white wide-sleeved top combined with a high-slit red hem and a black corset belt featuring gold buckles and intricate prints delivers a sharp, striking sense of contrast. This black-bladed katana prop is extremely heavy. With its red-cord-wrapped white handle, and the tassels and metal ornaments on the scabbard, every detail serves as a reminder that this is a warrior's attire. To capture the tension of being poised for battle, I tried my best to simulate the pre-drawing stance of unsheathing the blade. Combined with warm-toned lighting and a wooden lantern prop backdrop, it gives the frame a stronger sense of narrative.
This shoot gave me a deeper understanding of detail recreation in cosplay. For instance, the stitching of the fabric panels, the layering of the corset belt, and even the positioning of the ankle accessories all required repeated communication and adjustments with the stylist. Although the props and accessories combined are exceptionally heavy—especially since holding the swords for long periods makes my hands go numb—seeing the final results presented through the lens makes all the effort completely worth it. Through these two starkly different styles, I hope to display the character's dual traits of firmness and agility as part of this roleplay creative process.
