Cosplaying Denia from Wuthering Waves at the Firefly ACG Expo this time made the entire preparation and shooting process feel exceptionally fulfilling. I woke up very early in the morning for makeup; because Denia's eye makeup is very distinctive, I deliberately chose purplish-gray colored contacts, paired with extensive pink blush and a soft pink lip tint, hoping to recreate that soft yet dreamlike quality of the character. The wig was quite an undertaking: long hair with a Pink and blue gradient wig transition from pale pinkish-white to light blue, where the curls at the ends had to be shaped layer by layer with a curling iron. Especially for the sides and back, to maintain fluffiness throughout the day, I went through more than half a can of styling hairspray. The hair accessories—a black lace headband and a side black bow—were carefully positioned and pinned down piece by piece against official artwork details.
As for the wardrobe, this purple-and-pink gradient Sequin dress has superb texture, with fine sequins scattered across the gown that catch and refract dazzling light in the sun. The heavy embellishments of silver rhinestones and bead embroidery on the chest and waist gave it substantial weight, but these intricate details instantly pushed the character's glamorous aura to the max. The sheer tulle fabric of the puff sleeves snags easily, so I was extra cautious when putting it on and moving around. Since we were shooting outdoors, I specifically brought a white plush mat to sit on comfortably while posing, keeping the skirt off the bare ground.
There was heavy foot traffic at the convention, and while outdoor light was abundant, the lighting angles shifted constantly. To coordinate with the photographer, I explored various seated poses and hand gestures: from a thoughtful look resting a finger lightly on my cheek, to lively moments flashing double peace signs with a winking smile, to a demure stance quietly folding my hands over my lap. With each pose adjustment, I paid careful attention to the folds of the skirt and the drape of the hair, striving to highlight the voluminous silhouette of the gown and the depth of the hairstyle. Spending the entire day outdoors in this lavish outfit—maintaining disciplined facial expressions while constantly ensuring the accessories and wig didn't get disheveled—was physically taxing, but seeing the final photos made every bit worth it.
Reflecting on this Firefly ACG Expo experience, meeting everyone as Denia and sharing our love for the character and game was a genuinely delightful journey.
