Shooting this set of photos with my master actually took a long time to coordinate and adjust. Usually, solo shoots are relatively easy, but once it involves two-person interaction—especially a specific bond like master and disciple—it tests not only both of our camera presences, but also our understanding of the character dynamics. While preparing this Cosplay outfit, I put considerable effort into coordination. The blue-and-white gradient treatment on the coat is quite refined; combined with the black-and-white paneled design, it required excellent tailoring to fit my body shape while ensuring flexibility when posing. The long gloves on my hands and the blue-purple high-heeled booties on my feet are highlights of this styling, with detailed geometric textures significantly elevating the overall quality.
The lighting on the shooting day was actually quite plain, featuring a dark convention backdrop with overhead spotlights. To avoid crowds, we specifically chose a corner for on-site shooting. For props, we used a black metal step stool available at the venue; I was slightly worried about sitting stably, but the photographer guided that this height drop perfectly captures the subtle CB relationship between master and disciple. With Tartaglia cosplay standing sideways and me sitting on the step stool with legs crossed, this posture visually elongated proportions while naturally displaying details of the blue-and-white Gradient stockings and boot surfaces. This setup contrast between a cold character and a lively apprentice was precisely the atmosphere we wanted to recreate.
Genshin Impact content has always been a hugely popular theme with high attention in the cosplay community. How to avoid stiff standing poses and instead allow a story to flow between characters was the main focus of this shoot. Before the camera, I maintained restrained expressions without unnecessary exaggerated movements, conveying temperament solely through my gaze. On the other hand, Tartaglia cosplay presented back or side-profile views, using coat silhouettes to fill the frame and create a grounded sense of protection. The silver hair against the costume took on a luminous sheen under top lights, complementing the cool blue gradient tones to deliver a stunningly cool visual experience in this Cosplay photography.
I spent a long time preparing for this shoot, including replicating various props and accessories, selecting the thickness of the Gradient stockings, and testing high-heeled boot comfort on-site to prevent sudden mishaps from derailing shoot plans. Although my legs were indeed sore afterward, due to the requirements of seated and standing poses, we repeatedly adjusted angles and retook more than a dozen shots before finalizing this composition. Bringing the master-disciple dynamic to life before the lens is not just about recreating outer character appearances, but more importantly allowing fans who know the work to feel a core resonance faithful to the original. From initial positioning adjustments to eventually getting completely into character, the process was quite enjoyable.
Walking around in this outfit and props caught a light breeze, making the coat hem drape naturally and instantly bringing out an intense aura. After wrapping up, everyone packed equipment while chatting casually, marveling at the many other wonderful cosplayers at the venue and feeling the warm, friendly convention vibe. Overall, these photos not only record our recreation results, but also leave a solid milestone in my cosplay experience. I really look forward to sharing more angles from this project later on.
