[Ganyu Cosplay] Beijing ijoy Anime Convention Photoshoot: Showing off Long Legs in a No-Prop Standing Pose

The convention photos from the Beijing ijoy Anime Convention held at the Beijing National Convention Center on April 5th are finally ready! This time, I cosplayed Ganyu from Genshin Impact, with a styling that leans toward a refreshing yet slightly sweet-and-cool contrast. Honestly, the hardest part of cosplaying this character at a crowded convention isn't just the wig or the Cosplay outfit itself, but figuring out how to showcase her elegant yet lively aura purely through standing poses and body language without relying on any props.

First, let's look at the little design highlights of this outfit. The upper half is a black leather tube top embellished with golden details on the chest, paired with a black choker for a sweet-yet-cool vibe. The lower half features a multi-layered white ruffly skirt, transitioning with a gold bow belt at the waist to create rich layering, which causes the skirt to flare out slightly as I move. Of course, the tights and high heels are the absolute key to elevating the elegance of this Cosplay outfit. I chose sheer flesh-toned tights to smooth my skin tone, paired with a pair of red-bottomed black patent leather heels, which elongated my silhouette while adding a subtle touch of maturity. The light blue wig and the white ruffled headpiece have a soft, fluffy texture, which matches beautifully with the overall black, white, blue, and gold color scheme.

Since these are live convention photos, we couldn't precisely control the lighting and background like in a studio. The ceiling lighting at the National Convention Center is mostly overhead, and the environment is relatively dim, which actually worked perfectly to highlight the character's outline. Without any props, I designed several distinct standing poses to bring out her personality. For instance, lifting the sides of the skirt slightly while utilizing a low camera angle for a slight upward tilt beautifully elongated my legs. Poses like lifting one leg or kicking a leg up slightly also broke the stiffness of static standing, adding a lively energy to the shot and letting the skirt drape naturally to show off the lower layers.

To be honest, keeping your focus and poise while shooting outdoors or at a busy convention is incredibly challenging. Surrounded by spectators and photographers, I had to secure my balance in every posture and keep my facial expressions fully in check. In this set, I experimented with different hand gestures—like resting my chin on my hand, swaying my sleeves, and even stretching out my arms while standing on one leg—to keep the composition dynamic and engaging. I didn't try to force a sexy posture; instead, I focused on channeling the confident, poised state of the character herself.

As for photography tips, I believe the key to successful convention photos is finding a sense of 'relaxation.' While holding high heels and standing poses does test your core strength, as long as you shift your weight to one leg and let the other leg relax naturally, you'll capture very graceful posture. Shooting from a low angle visually elongates your legs, beautifully merging the skirt and leg lines into a single harmonious frame. I also noticed that the light hitting the black leather and the white tulle created a wonderful texture contrast, making the costume look exceptionally three-dimensional.
