[Jane Doe Cosplay] Criminal Investigation Special Agent of Zenless Zone Zero, Full Record of Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo Walkaround

This time, I brought the Jane Doe cosplay look from Zenless Zone Zero to the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo. The venue was even more lively than I imagined, and just walking through the halls allowed me to feel everyone's passion. Here is my walkaround record in pictures, sharing my thoughts on cosplaying this character.

The overall look focuses on a cool style with a touch of wildness. The short, choppy black wig took me a long time to trim myself in order to recreate that crisp edge. The teal contact lenses were very striking under the venue's overhead lights. The animal ear headpiece is the essence of the entire look; the black and pink color scheme adds a playful touch to the tough special agent style. The costume has many details: a large silver metal ring at the collarbone connects to black leather straps, with silver chains hanging between the neck and shoulders. There's a wide purple strap on the right shoulder, and a red, white, and black color-blocked design on the chest embellished with rivets and grommets, featuring quite a complex structure. As for props, I held a weapon painted in cyan, white, and red, which fit the character setting perfectly.

Regarding the jokes in the post like 'Save the rat' and 'Arrested at Firefly for intentionally walking around,' they were purely intended to add some memes to this expo trip. Walking around in this outfit was so recognizable; passersby kept saying 'Look, it's Jane Doe!', and photographers constantly lined up with their big lenses to shoot. Figure 2 was even teased by my friends for looking just like an agent locked in a detention room—with the yellow caution tape and iron bars, it really gave off a crime drama atmosphere. Being intercepted for photos while walking around is a special experience exclusive to convention cosplayers.

Speaking of 'Apologies for being OOC,' I always feel a bit nervous whenever I cosplay a favorite character. Jane Doe possesses a unique charm, walking on the edge of danger, with distinct styles in her eyes and movements. I tried my best with the makeup, using dark eyeliner and lower eyelid details to elongate my eyes and make myself look sharper. But my personality in real life is quite easygoing, so I was worried I couldn't capture the exact feel. Fortunately, the walkaround vibe was great, and I'm very satisfied with the photos taken; everyone can enjoy them casually as a photo gallery.

As a cosplayer, the happiest thing is meeting fellow fans at the expo. Although this time was mostly walking around without a formal studio session, this casual, lively state actually feels closer to the character's everyday vibe. During the two days at Firefly, I was almost constantly walking through the halls taking photos with various backdrops—the steps I logged almost equaled a month's worth of workouts! Next time I cosplay this character, I might want to try more dynamic action snapshots to express the tension in battle, as this outfit has many design details convenient for movement.

In fact, whether making props or costumes, every cosplay is a process of understanding the character. This attempt at Zenless Zone Zero's Jane Doe gave me new insights into pairing criminal investigation attributes with animal-eared girl characteristics. It's hard to get unified lighting at a convention venue; while the overhead light in Figure 1 made skin tone look flat, it surprisingly highlighted the textures of the leather and metal buckles well. The dark, somewhat cyber-vibe corner in Figure 2, combined with the caution tape, fully built the atmosphere of an agent being wanted or under surveillance.

Although the costume is complex and time-consuming to put on, every time I look back at the finished photos, I feel everything was worth it. If there's an opportunity in the future, I will definitely take this Jane Doe look to different location shoots, looking forward to presenting photos in more varied styles.
