I shot this photoset in Chongqing wearing this Alice Margatroid outfit. The puppeteer lady deep within the old castle, looking forward to today's visitors—this is inherently a setting full of a sense of ritual. The outdoor location beautifully recreated this classical atmosphere; whether it was the orange-red arches wrapped in ivy or the white brick wall buildings with blue windows, they provided a highly fitting background for this costume.

There are many details about the outfit in this shoot that are worth talking about. The white lace-trimmed bonnet on my head, paired with a red bowknot and short golden curly hair, fits the character's setting very well. The red ribbon at the collar and the criss-cross lacing on the chest are the visual highlights. The multiple layers of white lace ruffles on the sky-blue skirt hem, along with the long red streamers cascading from the waist, create a sharp yet soft color contrast. Those brown lace-up retro ankle boots on my feet really showed great texture after standing for a long time.

The shooting scenes spanned quite a bit, and the most memorable one was the framing with the vintage mirror. Looking at the puppeteer herself through the mirror while holding a little doll in her arms, this double reflection design reinforced the identity of the puppeteer and added a bit of surreal temperament. In the set of photos from the dark corridor, the natural light from one side outlined the figure from the darkness, and the silhouette of the retro chandelier above added story tension to the frame. The yellow sea of flowers set built indoors offered another completely different feeling; the low-angle perspective made it feel like observing the world from a doll's point of view.

The photographer @Xie'e Xiaojuzi accurately captured the beauty of these different atmospheres. From the half-body looking-back shot on the red brick steps to the blurred green branches in the foreground of the gravel courtyard, every composition explains the relationship between the environment and the character. This is not just a regular cosplay shoot, but more like an immersive character experience. Through the blending of clothing, props, and scenes, the theme of "the puppeteer looking forward to visitors in the old castle" was expressed quite completely.

The dark, heavily bound book I held had a very retro texture and worked perfectly as a prop. That day, I walked up and down the outdoor steps many times, and the sound of Xiaojuzi's shutter was like a conductor's baton. In fact, doing cosplay photography is often not just to recreate an anime image, but rather to use real-world light and shadow to retain a certain characteristic of the character. I really like the dark-light corridor photos this time myself, perhaps because that peaceful atmosphere perfectly matches the feeling of the puppeteer waiting in silence. It was a very happy experience to complete this puppeteer cosplay photoset with everyone. I'm quite satisfied with my expressiveness this time—not awkward, with a sense of communication between my gaze and the lens. The overall level of completion makes it one of my more satisfying works recently.
