[Marisa Kirisame Cosplay] Holding a Lantern and Stepping on Ice and Snow, Enjoying the Winter Magic Atmosphere

The shooting process of this winter snow scene photo set of the magician was far more interesting than what is presented in the photos. Speaking of the artificial snow scene in Fujian, it carries somewhat the color of a folklore miracle; the location purely used artificial foam and fine white sand to pave the ground. However, through framing and composition, coordinated with the European vintage architecture behind, the old stone walls crawled with red and green vines, and that massive wooden arched door, the overall resulting frame indeed carries a great sense of quietness in an exotic winter.

I prepared this black-and-white wizard costume for quite a long time. From the wide-brimmed color-blocked witch hat to the golden twin-tails with a purple bow on top, every detail was done to recreate the flavor of the original work as much as possible. The coat is a black short-style overcoat with double-breasted silver buttons, and a clean white high collar was used at the neckline for transition. The combination of the two rings of ruffled white sheer at the cuffs and the gloves adds a bit of playfulness to the crisp look. The layered white pleated skirt hem of the lower body presents a great fluffiness when walking around, and pairing it with black short boots not only visually elongates the proportions but also makes it convenient for me to change movements at will on the snow and stone paths.

The most exquisite part was actually the details of the handheld props. I manually wrapped the handle of that long-handled broom with black, white, and green interwoven ribbons, with three-dimensional star decorations and fabric bows secured at different nodes. The most eye-catching highlight is the lantern, whose vintage metallic frame peeks out a warm orange glow through the glass. In the freezing outdoors, the light source of the lantern not only provides a visual focus for the frame, but the exact moment it lights up, a touch of vivid warmth seems immediately injected into the entire icy color tone.

During the shoot, I tried multiple ways of expression. There was both the cool feel of leaning against a bronze fountain with a slight frown, and the dynamic flow of playfully holding the hat brim in the snow. My absolute favorite is the photo sitting on the low wall, where the sky full of snowflakes paired with the warm-colored lantern makes the expression look exceptionally gentle. To shoot the most stretched-out movements, I walked back and forth several times on the snow-covered ground. The moment of tilting my torso while dragging the broom to stride forward, or the dynamic action of slightly bending down to reach for the ground, were fully captured by the photographer. The scattered red roses and camellias at the corner of the stone wall formed an excellent color contrast with the pure white snow.

Standing outdoors for a long time, the freezing cold is definitely inevitable. Stepping on the artificial snow mixed with white sand in my boots, I could clearly feel the chill coming from the ground. But as a coser, once I hear the shutter sound, I must rapidly adjust into the character's state. Whether looking up at the sky or looking down at the lantern, I did my best to exhibit the character's slightly confident yet somewhat mysterious curiosity. Although the live environment didn't have true flying snow filling the sky, after adding the drifting snowflake special effects in post-processing, the overall atmospheric layers instantly became rich and full in this slice of Coser daily life.

I poured a great deal of painstaking effort into the shoot of this set of works. From the remodeling of props to the details of simulating wind and snow, and then to the positioning and movements matching different scenes, the entire process tempered both mindset and physical stamina. Being able to leave these moments in front of a fairytale-like winter manor with this classic magician image is genuinely a highly joyful thing. I hope these few photos from different angles can transmit that kind of cozy and fantasy quality of a winter stroll.
