This time, I bring you a set of photos for Evernight cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, aiming to use a Dark Gothic style to restore the cool, captivating, and mysterious feel of the character's design. Pre-shoot makeup and hair styling took quite a bit of time. The light pink-purple gradient hair color, when lit with cool-toned lights, presents a sophisticated color transition very close to the original setting. Paired with blunt bangs and thick sideburns, it creates a striking character silhouette. For makeup, I opted for a pale base, focusing on deep eyelines and subtle reddish eyeshadow, striving for a detached, level gaze that tells a story through the eyes.

Regarding the outfit selection, this ensemble is actually a spliced design merging multiple textures. The off-shoulder cut of the dark jacket breaks the monotony of traditional uniforms, while the high white collar attachment at the neckline with a square metal buckle forms a visual structural sense. The slightly structured outer fabric contrasts with the lightweight inner lining to form rich layers, while the hem features a ruffled short skirt paired with black thigh straps. The thigh strap detail is a crucial element in the overall look—it locks down the lower body's visual center of gravity while enhancing the character's heroic yet glamorous Gothic allure. Metallic chains on the arms, riveted shoulder straps, and metallic ring buckles at the cuffs all add to the functional and opulent feel of the outfit. Although layering them up is somewhat intricate to wear, it offers ample visual depth for the final Cosplay photography images.

The props used this time are also very interesting, especially the red-and-black mutated Butterfly prop. The wings feature visible weathering and broken detailing, which, together with the skeleton structure, carries a poignant wasteland vibe. Holding it in hand or placing it before the body adds dynamic tension to the composition, helping convey the character's secretive presence as if traveling through dark spaces. The long-handled umbrella in photo three also fits the tone of the piece; the solid black ribs merge naturally with the dark purple background, and holding the handle makes the overall posture look even more upright.

The shooting location featured a dark-toned set dominated by carved wooden pillars and draped silk fabrics. The venue's light source utilized a strong interplay of purplish-red and blue-purple neon lights. This bold contrast of alternating cool and warm lighting cast psychedelic reflections on the pink wig, while amber rim light illuminating the profile made skin texture look vivid. The seated pose in photo two used a slightly lowered camera angle, perfectly showcasing leg lines, thigh straps, and overall garment proportions. Folding hands around the Butterfly prop while slightly looking back captured a beautiful, cool moment. This lighting technique reinforces the contrast between highlight and shadow, giving the entire image a dramatic, stage-like feel.

Controlling the gaze was something I cared deeply about during this shoot. This character is not suited for overly outgoing or lively emotions, requiring instead a reserved coolness, like walking alone in a deserted corner of a bustling city or ruined wasteland. Coupled with the velvet fabrics and dark wooden carved sculpture background set up in the studio, the overall mood fit the theme seamlessly. During post-processing, we didn't do overly exaggerated color grading, focusing instead on unifying ambient light and adding subtle edge vignetting to make elements like the butterfly and umbrella stand out more.

Although the entire process was physically demanding, the final images truly matched the anticipated atmosphere. From every rivet detail on the clothes to the color distribution of the light, and down to the synergy between props and body language, every element served to present a complete character state. This work contains both magnificent darkness and the quiet beauty captured in the interplay of light and shadow, and I hope to fully convey Evernight's unique presence in the world of Honkai: Star Rail through the lens.
