"I am Herta. The one speaking to you right now is a puppet I am operating remotely." This photo set is the visual manifestation of Puppet Herta brought to life through scenery selection and props. The core of the shooting location was that gigantic clock dial and the stacked silver reflective foil surrounding it, a material capable of reflecting ambient light to create a crisp, ethereal sense of spacetime.
For this Silver hair cosplay, the Doll-like makeup and styling featured a grayish-purple wig paired with blue contact lenses, with subtle redness around the eyes emphasizing an inhuman, inorganic texture. Costume-wise, black-and-white ruffles are paired with a blue bow, and the teddy bear pendant and key accessories on the chest feature exquisite details. Furthermore, the black line-art markings on the back of the hands, as well as the thin black strap details on the shoes, socks, and legs, added a touch of playfulness and technological aesthetic to the overall look. During the shoot, a holographic transparent umbrella was specially added; the rainbow flare refracted by the umbrella illuminated the shadow areas, harmonizing with the studio's cool-toned lighting to yield dreamy light and shadow without needing heavy post-processing.
In terms of poses: the first photo features sitting in the center of the clock dial aligned with the hands, highlighting the motionless state of a puppet; the close-up resting chin in both hands showcases the details of the lenses and eye makeup; while the pose resting the umbrella on the shoulder and glancing back better flatters the layered textures of the skirt hem and cuffs. As a character portrayal, to stay closer to the puppet concept, I deliberately restrained facial expressions from becoming overly emotive, maintaining a pure, slightly hollow gaze. During retouching, priority was given to preserving the fractured specular texture of the silver foil, giving the frame richer spatial depth. The tailoring of this costume flatters the silhouette nicely, especially with the decorative leg straps elongating the visual proportions.
Whenever undertaking such Time-themed photography with a dedicated staged set, extensive advance communication with the photographer is crucial—from prop placement to the precise focus of my gaze. The process of adjusting collar and skirt hems before the lens was in itself an effort to channel the character's temperament.
