[Bailu Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — House Call Record of the Xianzhou Healer

As a healer of the Alchemy Commission, the shooting process for this set of client photos was actually full of unexpected little mishaps. Seeing the finished photos now, many details from the shoot come floating back to mind.

For the first set, we arranged a traditional style cosplay scene with a scholarly vibe. That black calligraphy brush and thread-bound ancient book in my hand really gave me a hard time back then. Making the action of biting the brush stem look natural and lively without bumping the pair of white deer horns on my head into nearby props required extremely precise control over head angles. To recreate the character's slightly lazy, scrutinizing gaze, the photographer specially chose soft warm-yellow side lighting in Cosplay photography, which, combined with the background calligraphy scrolls and bamboo leaves, instantly filled the atmosphere to the brim. The fluffy blue-and-white gradient long tail was also a major undertaking during shooting; every time we wanted to take a full-body shot, the tail kept twisting out of control, requiring the assistant to help find a perfect support point behind me so it could drape with a natural curve.

To demonstrate the completeness of the overall makeup and hair styling, we specifically shot a seated series in a studio with a pure white background. This blue-and-white healer outfit has rich layering, from the shoulder fur and yellow auspicious cloud knot at the collar to the golden gourd ornament and red cord at the bottom—every small accessory looked extraordinarily exquisite under clean light. For makeup, I chose a translucent matte base makeup, focusing on blue contact lenses and a subtle reddish gradient at the outer corners of the eyes, hoping to convey the character's lively charm as a 2D anime girl. Although studio shoots against a white background seem simple, lighting requirements are actually quite demanding: it needs to bring out the outfit's colors while avoiding harsh highlights on the face.

Aside from the quiet healer image, we also attempted styles with stark contrast during the shooting process. In the set where I sat on a red leather sofa, the blue glowing screen behind created a strong cybernetic vibe; holding that golden-adorned short baton in hand with a slightly raised eyebrow, I wanted to showcase the clever, witty side of Bailu cosplay. What tested expressive power most was the final chain sequence under dark red lighting. In an extremely dim environment, with only a beam of red side-light cast on my body, paired with heavy metal chains and foreground cherry blossom props, I repeatedly adjusted postures among the staggered chains to express a sense of disorientation while trying to break free. My arms were even marked with red indentations, but for scenario roleplay of anime characters, this physical tension was precisely what was required.

Looking back, wearing this high-collared inner layer plus a thick outer jacket for a summer studio shoot was truly a test, but for the quality of the costume and props, it was all worth it. As a cosplayer, I always feel that beyond restoring external accessories as faithfully as possible, conveying emotion is the most crucial part—whether it's the focus while reading attentively or the confidence when facing the camera lens, one needs to fully submerge into the story. The team coordination this time was very seamless with precise lighting and composition, and post-processing preserved original skin textures and fabric feel beautifully. Although taking off the wig after every shoot is a painful process, seeing these photos makes all the effort feel genuinely meaningful.
