Designing this Elf princess outfit style for Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail was a brand-new attempt to break through the dimensional wall. Although the original game design is a bit removed from an elf princess, the moment I saw these light blue and white accessories, I immediately decided to translate Firefly's coolness and agility into an elusive phantom in the forest. Today's photoshoot is not merely a costume showcase, but a creative derivative experiment exploring the character's temperament.
First, let's talk about the costume preparation. The top features an off-the-shoulder design with fluffy white ruffled sleeves, visually accentuating the neckline and shoulders. The iconic golden bell on the chest serves as the finishing touch, reinterpreting the metallic elements often seen on Firefly. The light blue skirt on the lower body uses multi-layered tulle, creating a shimmering effect under the lights that feels light enough to take flight while walking. The amber elf wings on my back are my favorite part—their semi-transparent material with fine shimmer cast dreamlike light and shadows onto the white walls under the studio's warm lights, instantly bringing a magical vitality to life.
For makeup and hair, I chose a silver-white wig with a light blue gradient. This cool tone paired with magenta contacts fits the elf theme perfectly. The eyeshadow used an understated lotus pink to avoid stealing visual focus, while mascara and eyeliner defined the eye contours to make the gaze look clear and bright. The foundation was kept translucent with a matte texture, giving the whole look a delicate refinement without any artificial plasticky feel. To harmonize with the light blue palette, I chose a peach lip color with orange-red undertones, brightening the complexion without looking abrupt.
The venue was a studio decorated with greenery and draped white tulle. The surrounding hydrangeas and vines provided excellent natural textures. To express Firefly's mysterious, serene elegance, the photographer and I specifically designed a series of fluid poses. For instance, in the first photo standing on one leg with arms dancing, the low-angle shot captured the skirt opening up, which, along with the White thigh-highs outfit and blue lace-up heels, elongated the leg lines to create a tall and graceful silhouette. This is also my favorite shot, balancing tension with elegance.
The second part leans toward still-life storytelling. For example, closing my eyes while leaning against the sheer curtain created a tranquil serenity that resonated wonderfully with Firefly's underlying loneliness in the story. In the third composition holding a teacup, we prepared vintage floral teaware. Sipping tea in the warm afternoon sunlight brought Firefly's daily life to life with cozy warmth in an alternate realm. Although this elf style doesn't fully follow the official in-game art, this kind of crossover Cosplay photography placing a character into a unique setting often sparks unexpected chemistry. Throughout the shoot, despite the voluminous skirt being slightly tricky to walk in and the wings catching on the vine decor, the final photos made all the effort feel worthwhile. This time, I wasn't just cosplaying Firefly, but creating a fantastical fairytale of her own.
